Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 5
The big issue to me is the story arc. We get random shows that are just fillers (Marshall and the monkey) with no way to advance the story line, and then out of the blue, they drop a story about Ted's house. I get that they have to "tease" Ted meeting his wife with the umbrella and stuff, but after awhile, the tease gets old and you just want to give up. There has to be some payoff.Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 5
You could see this coming a mile away. When they had the story arcs going, and threw in the occasional 'random' or filler episode, it was hilarious, like the slap bet, the bracket, and naked man. But surrounding all of those episodes were progression episodes with heart and an actual story. You had the new apartment by Marshall and Lilly changing the roommate situations and the Stella arc during that season.
It seems like they gave the fans and internet too much of what they wanted b/c most of the press that they were getting was off the crazy episodes. But the reason that it was funny was b/c the rest of the series was grounded and believable. Now that they're doing only random episodes, they're realizing that you will run out of those ideas fairly quickly and some of the ones they come up with are just hit and miss for a lot of people. My football alliances: E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles AND Hokie Hokie Hokie HiComment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 5
Best episode in a LONG time. It was like watching one from the first few seasons. My wife and I were laughing hysterically about the separate bed stuff, and there was finally some forward progress in the overall story (though I'm sure it's just the normal end of season build-up).Comment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 5
I loved the last episode. Marshall was on key. The notes to their future selves were great. And a good ending to the episode with Robin having moved out.Twitter

First time this season that I'll be watching it live as it's airing. With only a couple episodes left, hopefully they end the season on a strong note.My football alliances: E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles AND Hokie Hokie Hokie HiComment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 5
Nothing new about the mother, really? What a predictable finale. This season has entirely been filler. Not to mention having Barney being comfortable with driving is a huge continuity error.
Although most of the Ted hair jokes were good.Last edited by Porschebenz2001; 05-24-2010, 08:56 PM.NBA: New York Knicks

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 5
As for tonight's finale specifically, Ted's hair storyline was actually not bad. Barney was good as usual. Everyone else was "meh"...The Robin/Don thing was predictable to me as soon as she got her phone call.
And at the risk of sounding like I'm thinking too far into it, can anyone explain where that logic that "We're not having a baby until we see someone that looks exactly like everyone in our group!" makes sense? Even on television, that's just dumb as hell.Comment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 5
I agree with all this. I've missed half of the season and have no inclination to catch up on what I missed. Right now, I watch it occasionally because after putting in the time in the earlier seasons, I'd like to know how it ends up. As it is now, Neil Patrick Harris is the only reason to watch the show.

The point wasnt we are waiting to see all 5 dopples before we have a baby.
The point was Lilly was not ready to have a baby so it was a built in excuse for her to not have a baby. Case in point at the end the dopple looked nothing like Barney but she was ready to have a kid so she wanted it to look like Barney. When the rest of them looked at the hot dog vendor he looked nothing like Barney.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 5
Season finale? Meh. Very underwhelming. I agree with the above poster ont he continuity error with Barney driving. For a show that makes a killing on continuity, this is just weird. The Robin/Don thing was obvious, but I kind of expected Don at the end to barge in wheN Ted and Robin were close.
And with the 5th doppelganger being mentioned last episode and then again in this episode (and a failed 5th at that) was just lazy it seemed. So we are 5 seasons in, we haven't met the mother and we got zero clues in the last 4-6 episodes. C'mon guys.Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.
