I can't believe this locking the door argument. A locked door is going to stop a demon? LOL. Ok lets just say the demon couldnt unlock the door. He would just go through the wall or make Katie get up and unlock the door herself then start his trouble. A demon can possess a human and make her kill her boyfriend and her. A demon can cause a fire. A demon can crack a picture but a locked door will stop him?

I highly doubt that the demon is mechanically proficient enough to open a lock.

So get Katie to open the lock? He can make her stand by her bed for 3 hours, walk around and sit outside, kill her boyfriend and then herself. He could of easily made her unlock the door.

And he banged on the door to wake them up and cause fear.

The two biggest things that really keep me from watching this again are some fundamental character flaw:

1) Upon learning that a demon had been following this bitch around since she was a kid - hey girl its been nice knowin ya, but bitch you crazy. This is my house and I don't want no demon living up in here.

2) So, the girlfriend is just going to allow her boyfriend to essentially talk **** to this demon that has been plaguing her all her life and escalate this demon's presence? Yeah, I don't think so. Girl should have ditched that ******* and gotten the **** outta there.

Isn't he always physically next to her, though? Her reason for not being able to simply move to a new house was that it follows her wherever she goes.

Why are we trying to apply logic to the supernatural, again? It's supernatural, it defies logic.

Ok, so the demon just waits in the guest room until lights out and then goes next to her? Oh door is locked oh well I will try again later. Even if want you say is true the demon could always be next to her. What the hell else is it going to do. She says she even feels it next to her in the movie.

Cebby, just remember how the psychic said that leaving won't help at all. Well, by "leaving" they could either drive as far away as possible, stay in a hotel (which those doors lock), or what have you. This demon was going to follow her, no matter where she went. It got more pissed off at Micah the entire way through as well, hence the escalation.

Locking doors would not have done anything.

You guys really are thinking too much in human terms and not in paranormal ones. Really it's pretty funny anyone seriously thinks that a locked door would help. In fact I think you guys are probably typing these arguments behind your keyboard laughing the whole time. Surely you can't be serious about that argument..

Side note: My cousin has a demon that follows her. She's moved 4 times in the past 10 years and it shows up about 3-5 days later. She says that if she's out of town somewhere for an extended period of time that she can feel the presence of it. Although it is not as threatening as the one in the movie, it does slam doors, tvs go on and off, lights go on and off and footsteps. She has had her houses blessed numerous times to no avail. Pretty alarming stuff considering she has two boys, ages 7 & 13.

She says that if she's out of town somewhere for an extended period of time that she can feel the presence of it. Your cousin should invest in a video camera.

Demons, ghosts, vampires, bigfoot, aliens, and all other sorts of creatures have the odd property to immediately disappear when a video camera is on.

I've told her this so many times but she doesn't want to mess with it. I've watched her kids a couple times down in their finished basement while she was out and I've heard things. Including one time it sounded like her open the front door, come in, close the door, yell something inaudible (I couldn't make it out) and walk down the hall. When I went upstairs, nothing. No one up there, door locked, lights off and everything.
