    Re: Paranormal Activity

I just finished watching this a few hours ago. Crazy ****. I was actually debating watching it alone at night the last few days and finally decided to man up tonight, lol.

I loved it. I'm not big on horror movies or scary movies, but this was one of the better movie viewing experiences I've ever had. It didn't necessarily scare me. More like creeped the hell out of me. About 2 or 3 of the scenes literally sent chills through my entire body.

The whole suspense factor of the movie was just great too. I was on the edge of my seat every time Micah and Katie (who was so fine. She was probably a big reason I liked the movie because she was hot and did a great job acting throughout the whole movie) were sleeping. I also liked how they even ended up flipping that with

It was just a great movie IMO. Some of those events that happened in the movie are probably going to be stuck with me for awhile. The funny thing is that I knew it wasn't real but for some reason I had a hard time not being immersed in the movie and getting the feeling that it was real.

One thing I wish is that they would have used the alternate ending as the actual ending instead of the Hollywood-esque ending. That one kind of took away from the movie for me.

I also really don't like the fact they're doing a sequel. This movie would have been best left alone with no need for a sequel but I guess money talks. I doubt I'll check it out anytime soon because the fact it's a sequel and not something original like the first movie takes away from what made this one so great.

I agree that the alternate ending was better.

I think the alternate ending was better, but the build-up in the theatrical version was shot/acted/written better, and when I heard about how the alternate ending was going to be, I expected it to look better than it actually did. So while I suppose I would rather show off the alternate ending, I wish it was shot a little better.

I agree about the theatrical ending being built up better. My only beef with it is that it was too Hollywood for my liking.

For a movie that seemed like it was real life events happening in front of you, the ending IMO ditched that feeling. It just felt like the typical Hollywood movie thing to do to have
          Spoiler
and I even predicted that that was going to happen as I was watching it.

Now it wasn't a horrible ending by any means, but I think the theatrical one could have been done a little better.

Like I said, the third one is the best on paper ending... it just wasn't shot as well as the theatrical one was, which was an awful Hollywood style ending.

Where did you see the first one? I've seen the other 2 but can't find the first one anywhere.

I didn't see it in theaters (watched a rip at a friends house while it was in theaters), so which one was the theatrical scene?

The first one was in the version I saw. That one felt too contrived for me and took away the force of whatever was doing the haunting. I still like three the best. The other two feel like they could be pulled from other movies.

When I was perusing the IMDb boards around the time the Blu-ray was coming out to read impressions, someone created a thread that linked to a site which had all three endings. I won't be able to find that thread anymore, but that website might still exist.

I still think #1 was kind of creepy, but was the least climatic overall.

The theatrical scene was the 2nd one. I didn't mind it but like I said, it was a little too Hollywood-ish when compared to the rest of the movie and how it seemed pretty realistic.

Yeah, #3 was the best, would have been even better though if she'd have smiled real broadly before doing it.

However, they didn't want to do #3 because they wanted the woman to still be alive for the sequel.

You can thank the studio for two of the endings Oren never wanted to change them originally.
