 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

On the original Droid, Froyo will only make the phone a tad bit better. Froyo really shines on a 1ghz phone, original Droid is only 550mhz. Sure it will be faster, but don't get too pumped up about it, the coolness of Froyo wears off after a couple of days.Comment

I know its not gonna be revolutionary or anything but I've had the phone since the first day it came out. Something to make it a little fresher would be nice that's all.Comment

Droid X screen looks better? Better have your eyes checked. Touchwiz is actually pretty light on resources and runs really smooth. Plus, the reviews of the **** say it is even faster and the GPS issues are fixed.Comment

 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

I've seen both, and the Droid X screen definitely looks better. It's higher res and doesn't suffer from the horrid blue push and oversaturated, unrealistic colors.

Touchwiz is definitely NOT light on resources and lags the phone.Comment

most impressions that ive read, a lot of users hate Touchwiz and opt to use LauncherPro. Ive switched to LauncherPro over Sense."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

launcher pro actually made my vibrant more laggy than the touchwiz launcher. Although, I did like the top-to-bottom scrolling app tray.Last edited by clivo1050; 08-19-2010, 01:31 AM.Comment

 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

I respectfully disagree on both accounts. The droid x uses a traditional lcd while the galaxy s phone use super amoled, vastly superior technology in every way. Droid X might have a few extra pixels, but it has a larger screen. I don't even see a hint of a "blue push" on my vibrant. The technology is naturally bright and vivid. I'd prefer this over drab and dull looking anyday, even if it is more realistic.Comment

 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

The new Motorola (MOT) Droid 2 smart phone is selling well in the early going, according to Morgan Keegan analyst Tavis McCourt.
After checking with over 40 Verizon Wireless (VZ, VOD) retailers, he finds that the typical store has sold about 50 of the phones in the first week, and many already sold out of their initial inventory. He says consumers and store associates are “very pleased” with improvements made from the first generation Droid, with no significant returns or complaints. He estimates the Droid 2 will sell 150,000-200,000 units in the first week, “sold by any measure,” even more so given it is the third Droid. He thinks Verizon in aggregate could sell more than 3 million Droids in the third quarter.
He notes that Droid 2 will likely continue to be out-sold by the Droid X and the HTC Incredible.
