Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Can I ask a dumb question. Wifi what is it? I know it is the internet connection, but where does it come from. Does it hack in to the place you are at wifi? I mean if I am outside or at work where does the wifi come from. If I was at work and wanted to browse the internet, would it use the my works internet? Sorry for the dumb question. If it even makes sense. I am basically asking if I use my phone at work well they know.

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
as stated earlier this is completely untrue. Gmote, Mecanto, a slew of other apps all offer this function, it's nothing new to android. I've been using gmote since I had my G1. and root is definitely not required.Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
All depends on what type of PC OS you have. I know a lot of people have hard time rooting using windows 7 64 bit. Where as people running XP, Vista 32 bit can root with ease.
For me I know I had a hard time because all the PC's in my house run windows 7 64 bit and RSD Lite wouldn't work with it for some reason, that in itself was funny because I had 15 mods across 3 different websites trying to figure it out and none of them could. But then I found this one button root program and I was rooted in 1 minute.
All I can say is take your time, follow step by step, make sure all pets, kids are away from you. Because nothing can damage your phone more then have somebody unplug your phone or knock over your phone during a root process.Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Yeah I noticed that last night.......but in a way it pissed me off too because I had changed all my icons to gold but with the facebook update it changed it back to stock color. Oh well I can live with that.
Anyway......my Droid X users........you all going to have to wait until early september for Froyo.

I could've sworn Froyo had been rooted already. Guess I was wrong. Well, I'll use the time to get familiar with rooting."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
not the official Froyo but I have Froyo from a leaked ROM and I am rooted. So I am at 2.2 and rooted. Froyo is so much faster too. Not sure when Verizon is going to give us the official Froyo. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Just to clarify, he means there is no way yet to root an EVO updated to 2.2 over the air through Sprint. Sprint blocked the way they were previously using to root the EVO with the update.Comment
