To be honest, after getting interested in this stuff, I won't buy another phone without seeing the type of support it has from developers.
Based on what I'm seeing on the XDA forums, there's a pretty easy step by step guide to the rooting that should (in theory) take about 10-15 minutes. Hope I don't screw it up!

Have you figured it out? What was giving you trouble?

Didn't get it to work yet, but seasprite gave me his steps, so I'll try that later tonight

Rooted! Titanium Backup is running right now and now I'm just trying to figure out which ROM to use. Lots to choose from.

My Sensation's USB port malfunctioning. A piece broke off. I had that puppy running to perfection.

I'm currently using my old Vibrant, new Sensation should be arriving later today, though. However, then I have to root again and do all the other things.

Yeah I'll check it out. I am probably going to try a couple different ROMS out. Right now I'm running a ROM and an ICS theme with it. Soooo fast. Thanks for your help man!

My goodness, I can't believe it took me this long to root. My phone is so fast now and the battery life is significantly improved. I didn't even think this phone could get any faster. Plus being able to backup is huge. Not to mention being able to finally uninstall all the AT&T crap.

Well, I have rooted my replacement phone now. I tried it at home over the weekend, and couldn't get the command prompt to recognize my phone.

At work, few minutes, and back to running ICS.

This phone is just so much better now than stock.

Thaim1su, how are you liking things? This can get addicting man.

Anyone know of a solution for watching Google video rentals on a rooted device? Ota rootkeeper seemed to work on my galaxy nexus but not on my xoom.

It's beautiful. If nothing else, just the extended battery life alone was worth the root

So I may have done the ultimate noob mistake and bricked my phone. Advice?

EDIT: Since I have insurance, I am contemplating letting the phone die, then "accidentally" dropping in the sink.

Does your phone show any signs of life? People tend to jump the gun and claim a brick when it may still be salvageable.

What phone? Try to reach recovery?

                              -edit-

"let the phone die and THEN dropping in water" leads me to believe it isn't bricked

Tried flashing something, stuck at Galaxy S2 Screen. Can get into clockworkmod however. Basically, this thing wont boot up.

EDIT: I can get into ODIN mode. Thinking about flashing back to stock.
