I take it you have the Skyrocket?
I don't see any ICS roms for that yet, however, I just read an article that states Galaxy S2 updates will be rolling out starting next month. It also depends on your country and carrier, so until you hear something officially, just don't know.Comment

No, I decided to not go with the skyrocket because I was able to get the SGII for a 10.00 upgrade and didnt really see that much difference other than LTE in the skyrocket. I do believe I have seen an ICS rom out there for the SGII, just didnt know when they were officially rolling out the update.Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
I thought I'd ask this here. I'm into voice commands and manipulating them to do various tasks. I had a lot of fun with windows speech recognition for my laptop and incorporating macros. You can do an endless amount of commands and even run variables etc.
If I root my phone would I be able to manipulate the code behind the android's voice recognition software? There must be a place on the phone that houses the code for assigning tasks to your commands, so would a rooted phone allow me to add/edit that?
ThanksBeing kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

This. I love SwiftKey X. I have had three phones since I got it from the Amazon AS. I LOVE it. So much better than the stock and I dont use swype. So it is perfect for me. At this point, it pretty much knows what I want to say when I want to say it.Moderator

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Super impressed with the Galaxy Nexus. I've been using the Driod X since the morning of its release. Towards the end it became really sluggish and the camera stopped working completely. This phone is fast. I never really needed to teather it, so I don't know if I will root it. But it is faster than I could've imagined. LTE speed is really fast. I am having a lot of fun with this phone and I've only had it for a couple of days.
Waiting on the extended battery to arrive, because if I have one issue with the device that would be it. I put it through the paces today in Baltimore at the car show, and it lasted about 6 hours. Taking pictures, loading web pages, taking phone calls, and DLing a few things. 4G for most of it. But I like the phone and I was thinking about testing the RAZR MAXX but now I'm not so sure.Moderator

Anyone know much about the LG Spectrum? My cousin is getting that because it cost less, but still has some good specs. Haven't heard much about it though.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
So for those that have a Verizon nexus and want Google wallet. Here is a step by step walk through of how to get it. The same method can be used to get any apps, that Verizon blocks for whatever reason.
(Mods, if this is against the TOS, please delete.)
We just discovered that Google Wallet has been given the green light for the Galaxy Nexus as long as it has an AT&T SIM (sorry T-Mo users), but the reason we discovered that in the first place, was a tip from a reader who claimed to have installed it on his Verizon LTE... #GalaxyNexus #GoogleWallet
To bad I don't have a citi master card.
Edit: I also just learned how to take a picture of my phones home screen from the phone itself. Very cool.Last edited by N51_rob; 02-13-2012, 04:09 AM.Moderator

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Anybody know of a good check balance app?
I'm researching but before purchasing, would like some feedback.
I know Google allows 15 min for returns, but that is not enough time to test it out.Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Love that I can take pictures of my phones background from the phone. Much easier than the old way. Anyways, they say hope springs eternal so here is my background for much of baseball season. Which has started earlier for me since the Caps seem to be floundering all season, and the Redskins are the Redskins.

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Apple filed another suit against Samsung, this time for the Galaxy Nexus.
(Reuters) – Apple Inc raised the stake in an intensifying global patent battle with Samsung Electronics by targeting the latest model using Google’s fast growing Android software, a move which may affect other Android phone makers. Apple has asked a federal court in California to block Samsung from selling its new Galaxy Nexus smartphones, which […]
Also, for HTC fans, like myself. There has been leaks on HTC Sense 4. Looks crisp, and the supposed feature list is impressive.
New things and improvements in Sense 4.0:
- Landscape mode now also in home screen (with optimized buttons etc)
- No on-screen buttons (as on Nexus) but will adopt the 3 buttons (prev. 4)
- 3D Task manager
- Better lockscreen, with better integrated notifications, to-do-lists, notes, contacts etc.
- Updated Email client with threaded messages and improved layout (over all better email)
Smart Sync technology which syncs your email based on your usage habits
- Better Browser, with Read later and Watch later functions. Introducing a new Reader feature.
Reader:feature in browser strips away ads and other useless web clutter
Read/Watch Later: feature in browser saves content in a widget which can be accessed at a later time (even offline)
- Guest mode, lets your friends only test some basic stuff (no phone, data, and special apps)
- Better Camera - when it detects a face, it takes 5 pics and chooses the best one. (I guess a new version of Amaze cam?)
- DropBox integrated (50 GB Free storage!! WTF?!!)
- Beats Audio will be universal, meaning allowed in 3rd part apps (Spotify, YouTube, Pandora, VPlayer, etc.)
- SoundHound seems to be integrated in the music app! (see pic attached in 1st post)
- SkyDrive integration (both SkyDrive and DropBox?)
- Scrollable wallpapers are back?
- HTC Speak - digital personal assistant. Similar to iPhone´s Siri (rumor)Wazzup guys!? Here we discuss & share everything about Sense 4.0 and the coming updates. I wish there was an extended battery for the Galaxy S II. The only issue I've had with it so far is battery lifeComment
