I'm due for an upgrade at the end of July so I hope the Galaxy II is out by then. My original Droid seems to be on its last legs as it freezes now more than ever.

Also the next Nexus phone looks to be pretty awesome.

Supposedly coming out next month. I was going to try to hold out till fall, but my orginal Droid, while it works fine, is sluggish with some of the demands I place on it. It's been a great phone, but it's time to move on.

Those specs do look pretty nice. I'm saw some speculation that it was coming to AT&T in July with an estimated price point of $200. Do you guys feel like it's going to really be worth twice what the Atrix is at $100? Without the iPhone 3GS being my only smartphone experience, I don't really know myself...just trying to decide if it's worth holding out for a little longer. My AppleCare plan is up in a couple weeks and I was originally thinking of getting a new phone around that time. I might be able to hold out until July but I don't feel like I want to wait until the fall.

I love my X and was gonna wait until the Droid Bionic comes out, but that phone is becoming like the Detox LP more and more each day. May have to start looking around for other android phones.

Other Droid X owners should notice what's missing. The A-Holes at Verizon sold me the phone like this. I swear on everything I love it was like this. Then 3 of the workers wanted to have a back and forth game and say I HAD to remove it.

Why would I remove something I had no clue was missing from a phone I ordered from you the night it came out?

Yeah, explains why it never worked right. But it was nothing some cursing and acting crazy couldnt fix.

According to inside sources at VZW the tiered data plans are poised to go live July 7th, 2011. Whats this mean to a majority of users, well if you dont purchase your 4G device prior to 07/07/11 you will be subject to the tier.

If true, I'm going to have to break down and get a TBolt I guess. I was trying to hold out for the Bionic or SGS2.

eh, their LTE phones are just too horrible with battery life at the moment.

The next few years will be interesting with caps and tiers everywhere on internet data usage though. Content providers are pushing HD streaming services that go against the very idea of caps, so something has to give as this stuff only becomes more popular. I'm already past like 1.5 gigs on my phone this month, pretty much just from listening to Pandora at work.

Nice heads-up. I currently have the unlimited iPhone data plan at AT&T and was told that I'd be good with that unless I change my plan. In other words, I need to stick with AT&T to keep it or switch to Verizon soon. I know that AT&T gives 30-day trials...does Verizon do the same type of thing? Still waiting on some possible changes at the wife's place of employment that may play a bigger role in our decision. Not sure it would happen before the tiered plans go into effect...

With ATT you can keep your plan and still get new phones when your contract is up. They may try to tell you that you need to change your plan, but you don't have too.

Unless you try and add a phone that MUST have a certain plan, like the iPhone.

Sprint does this in a strange way - they charge a $10 4G "tax" on their 4G phones like the Evo.

sure, if you want to stay on your same phone forever. However, Verizon has a history of forcing people to new plans if they want to upgrade to a new phone. So even if you wanted to keep paying month to month and buy a new unsubsidized phone for $650+, they can require you to have one of the new data plans to activate it.

Looks like I'll be keeping my Lg Ally for years unless it gets destroyed in some freak accident. Though I don't get it. Everyone is promo HD streaming which is massive data amounts, yet everyone wants to tier on data usage. Its working backwards. Its going to kill the streaming before it even starts
