For you guys who have rooted your phone what as been your experience? I've been wanting to root for a while honestly just to try it out.

My worries are I'll some how mess up my phone or not be able to get it back to its factory state if anything goes wrong.

I have an AT&T Galaxy S4 by the way.

I've rooted / ran a custom ROM on every single android phone I've had (going back to the original Droid with the sliding keyboard. Which, incidentally, was probably my favorite phone of all time.)

Here's a decent article detailing a few (of the many) benefits. http://gizmodo.com/5982287/reasons-t...android-device

It's something I suggest (I flash custom ROMs like it's the 5 o'clock free crack giveaway until I find one I really really really like) but ultimately, you have to be comfortable with the fact that there is a very rare chance you can brick your phone. It's not quite foolproof these days (what is?) but it's an easy process.

Sadly, the version of the Galaxy S4 I have (I'm on the VRUAME7 update) doesn't have an unlocked bootloader so all I can do as of now is Root. I can't flash any custom recoveries/custom ROMs yet (I don't feel like doing the SafeStrap workaround) but I absolutely HATE having my phone filled with all the crap apps that come with it. I miss my custom ROMS

I have done the safestrap thing and it works great with custom roms i have hyperdrive rom installed and it is awesome you can create a rom slot and not even mess with the stock rom and if something goes wrong you can just reboot back to stock rom

Anyone know why loading ESPN on my One is troublesome? Mobile version is all white background only links, and the full desktop version doesn't load the top scorebar + main headline panel. I tried loading it with adblock enabled and disabled and the same thing happened.

I want one for my Note 2. Would be nice to answer calls and read text without having to pull out that hugh phone every time but it cost way too much at $300! Are you kidding me! I can buy a good smart phone for $300 heck for $100 dollars more I can get a PS4! Do these come free or discounted with a full upgrade and two-contract renewal?

So apparently the Nexus 5 should be announced today. I'm having a hard time deciding if I want it, or if I should wait for whatever the next big phone is after this. Hmm.

I'm a little jealous - just got S4 in September. From everything I read, this phone is top of the line - especially on price since it's off-contract too. The only thing missing (for me) is expandable micro SD.

It's available now on the Play Store. I think I'm going to hold off, but it's certainly tempting.

I ordered the 16gb in black. Sprint is a supported carrier FYI

Was tempted to get white but the 16gb in white is out; now thinking about 32gb but not sure if I like the white back/black front.

Very tempted right now to get this phone.

32gb for 399 is pretty incredible for an off contract price. When I saw that the 32gb was only 50 bucks more I was almost upset I didn't get that instead.

So I'll be getting a new phone this month, and as of now I've been determined to get the HTC One, but what do you guys think? Right now I have the Evo 3D and I absolutely hate it, but I love HTC's software. However, I really care about battery life, customization options, and camera, and out of all the best phones it's probably last in those categories. I've considered the G2 but the software is kind of ugly. Thoughts?

posting .APKs are against the TOS right?

Anyways a lot of the new APKs have made their way online. So far I've installed the new android keyboard which has full emoji support, Hangouts 2.0 which allows you to receive SMS and MMS directly from the app and the new Launcher. Runs smoothly on my Galaxy Nexus. This should hold me down till my Nexus 5 arrives.

Nexus 5 looks sweet but of course it's not coming to Verizon.
