    Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

I've purposely held off on getting a new phone for a year(My 2 year contract ended last November and T-Mobile has been hounding me to get a new phone ever since). I've been waiting on this phone ever since I read rumors earlier this year about it. I was tempted to get the HTC One but HTC soured me on the previous phone I have(HTC Sensation) and my sister has the S4(touchwiz just isn't for me). I just want to get a pure Google phone and the Nexus 5 fits the bill.

However, I really care about battery life, customization options, and camera, and out of all the best phones it's probably last in those categories. I've considered the G2 but the software is kind of ugly. Thoughts?

I just ended up ordering a HTC One from ebay last night. I recently got a Droid Maxx, but it was just too damn heavy in my pocket. I literally had to keep pulling my pants up.

I read a ton of reviews on it and 99% are extremely positive and some say its better than the S4.

I should have it Tuesday so let me know if you have any questions.

Very pleased with my HTC One. I have it unrooted (don't know enough to root it) and I get about 16-17 hours of battery life with *my* normal use. Usually streaming music or games for a couple hours, texting, tweeting, couple of web pages here and there, couple games here and there, and it goes well.

If you're concerned with battery life and you're a heavy user, don't hesitate to get one of those external battery packs you can just charge your phone with in case of emergency. I got one that was like 10000mAh for like 30 bucks on Amazon a couple months ago.

I'm in that market for a new phone. I really want the Note 3 but the price point is throwing me off. What's the newer phone you guys have been talking about? HTC One, what are some of the differences between it, the S4 and Note 3?

This will be my first jump to droid btw. Long time iPhone user. Also I am on AT&T.

I thought the HTC One doesn't have a removable battery pack? I will most likely end up getting it on Black Friday, like I did last year with my Evo because it was only for one cent on Amazon. However, I really want the blue one but it is a Best Buy exclusive so hopefully they have a really good deal there (like get a $50 Best Buy gift card). And for those who have it, how is the keyboard?

It doesn't. I think he's talking about one of those battery backups that charge your phone if you're out and about somewhere and don't have access to an outlet.

For me, the main difference between the One and S4 is Sense vs. Touchwiz user interface. But that's personal opinion. The note 3 is a phablet so the size is going to be the main difference and it's also Samsung so it's Sense vs Touchwiz again.

(Minor gear grinder, it's android, not droid. A droid is a specific phone that runs android OS. The terms aren't interchangeable.)

Ya, talking about an external thing that you can plug into in case of emergency. You charge the pack on its' own and then carry it if you need to. Works like a charm.

.....whats "Google Bookmarks Sync" and why does it CONSTANTLY suck my battery? GSam always tells me Google Services is sucking up a high percentage and each time I click on it it's always this "Bookmarks Sync" crap. How do I stop it?

Bookmark sync is chromes desktop/mobile browser sync stuff. Go into chrome settings, your email address account, and you should see the sync options.

Weird. I wasn't even signed into Chrome but those sync settings were still on when I did. Does it affect anything through my non-Chrome Browser Google sync settings now that I turned it all off?

Shouldn't. The chrome sync is so you can have the exact experience on your desktop and mobile. Add a bookmark on mobile, it syncs, and you have the bookmark added on your desktop browser as well.

Anyone mess around with NFC tags? Honestly never knew what they were until last night and I wanted to see if they're worth it. Seems awesome but quite gimmicky.

Have them set up at work, in my car, and at home for different profiles to preserve battery life and turn on/off certain features

Rayman Fiesta Run out today, getting really good reviews. $3 on Google Play, but only $1 on Amazon App Store. And if you've been paying attention, you probably have some free Amazon coins to spend on this

Quick question fellas, I am considering buy either a Galaxy S3 or S4 and I wanted to know if the S4 is worth the couple hundred extra(I'm buying off-contract). I mainly use my phone for the usual stuff and web browsing, I don't really play games or watch videos on it. Is the LTE and better power on the S4 warrant the price?

The S3 should also have LTE. I would have a hard time paying the extra out of pocket for the feature set of the S4.
on contract would be a completely different story for me.
