Re: Alec Baldwin to quit acting in 2012

I'll miss him if he really quits. I think he's a very good actor, and is a really funny guy. And really talented - he's done some great skits on SNL. One in particular I remember he did I think was called "The Mimic"; didn't realize he could mimic different people so well. While he does come off as something of an azz at times, I really like him on 30 Rock and when he appears on Bill Maher. And he's done a ton of movies lately - maybe he is ramping up to quit
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Thing is, I bet his time on 30 Rock will elevate his movie career.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Anyone else remember when he yelled at his kid and then he was all of a sudden going to quit acting? He's done this before. I think that was between seasons 1 and 2 of 30 Rock.

I've quoted his dialog from "Glengarry Glen Ross" a few times a year, every year since it came out...

          Classic!

Mentioned it 7 or 8 posts UP. Up in the air whether it gets an R or PG13 rating.

I remember-that was more a reaction to the embarrassment of the situation then anything else.

Perhaps beating out Charlie Sheen for an Emmy takes the luster out of the award.

Liked him in 'The Edge' for some reason. I think the writing for his character sucked. he did the most with it though

LOL, and I actually like 2 1/2 Men when it doesn't get totally sophomoric and I think Sheen is a fine actor, but they don't ask him to do much.
As for the previews of Baldwin's upcoming movie I hope it kills at the box office (OK, I'm a 30 Rock and Baldwin fan), but on the surface there doesn't appear to be a lot of chemistry between Alec and Meryl.

I think that's asking a hell of a lot of good on one day.

The day Robin Williams quits whatever the hell he is doing on screen should be a national holiday.
