Re: Plasma Owners?
I bought a 46" 1080p Panasonic from wally world a few weeks ago... I absolutely love it. It's my third HDTV, and the picture quality is head and shoulders above my previous two LCD's. The color and black levels are so much deeper and I don't notice any of the motion blur or ghosting that I noticed with my LCD's.
I did run a Break-In DVD for the first 120 hours and ended up going into the Service Menu to calibrate the picture using some reference settings that I found over at AVSforum.com. I would HIGHLY recommend this forum to anyone who owns an HDTV and wants to get more out of their picture, and also learn more than you may ever want to know about the technology.
I did a ton of research before going with a plasma. Mostly because I had heard some pretty scary stories regarding IR and Burn-In. Though the general consensus seems to be that most sets made within the last couple of years really don't have these issues anymore. I can't remember where, but I read an article where some guys did a IR/Burn-In test on all of the major 2008/2009 panels. They set the TVs to Vivid or whatever high contrast mode the set had, and left a bright static image on for days on end. While there was definitely some IR, none of the sets experienced actual Burn-In, and the IR went away after a short period of time. If I can remember where I found the article I'll post a link here later. Now, more than everComment

Re: Plasma Owners?
yeah, mainly on the 58" one, but I do on the 42 as well. I didn't really worry about the break-in period that much, I mainly just zoomed any movies or TV shows to hide the bars for the first couple hundred hours. Games I didn't really worry about, there aren't that many still images these days. I'd of worried more if I was playing SNES games or something.

Re: Plasma Owners?
I have a 42" Panasonic G10 that I bought about 6 months ago. I use it to game on, surf the web, watch tv and movies, everything really... I absolutely love it, and I have a Sony V5100 in the living room, which IMO doesn't even come close to the plasma.
For the record, I have never seen any burn-in or image retention or anything of that matter. For break-in, I used the slides for maybe 10 hours and then decided I couldn't wait any longer, so I just made sure to keep static images (logos, HUD's, black bars...) off the screen as much as possible for a couple of weeks. Since then, I just use it and enjoy it without even thinking of burn-in.Jesus saves

Re: Plasma Owners?
Returned it, due to being highly disappointed with it, I had some bad clouding issues in all four comers and the set was suffering from it famous red flashing issues. It was the first Sony product that I was ever disappointment with.
So I got the set returned and bought my first choice Set which was a 50" LG Plasma.Last edited by RoyalBoyle78; 12-14-2009, 12:26 PM.N.Y Mets
