It might need to work its self out. I don't know too much aboout Plasmas, but I am sure Gamecock can answer that question.

Re: Plasma Owners?
Yeah, I am getting some bad static and black blips even on HD programs. I just talked to Sears and they said I can bring it back and exchange it without paying the 15% restocking fee. So I think I am going to do that.Comment

Re: Plasma Owners?
If I'm understanding you correctly, what you are seeing is due to your antenna trying to pick up a weak tv signal. Will look fine for a while then it'll get scrambled. Is this right?
To make sure that's what it is, play a DVD or blu ray. Shouldn't see it on either of those. If so, then the issue is your tv.
Check first before going through the return process.Comment

Re: Plasma Owners?
if you go to return it and tell them there is something wrong you will not be charged a restocking fee at all. I spoke to one of the sears reps the other day when I paid a bill. He said even if there is nothing wrong and you want to return it just bring it back and say that it has screen flicker ad you don;t want it, they will take it back with no restocking fee.N.Y Mets

Re: Plasma Owners?
True. But what he's describing sounds like an issue with the antenna not fully picking up the OTA channel and has nothing to do with the tv itself. Will be remedied by getting a better antenna (possibly) or getting HD channels from cable, Dish or DirecTV (definitely).if you go to return it and tell them there is something wrong you will not be charged a restocking fee at all. Oh, I know I was just letting him know, he has 30 days to think about it, thats what sears policy is, 30 days.True. Re: Plasma Owners?
Yeah, I had an Onkyo I bought 2 years ago for $450 which the HDMI board started acting wonky. I sold it off to a guy letting him know about the HDMI board and bought a Denon around $350 with less features than what I had with the Onkyo but it does what I need vs. having all these unwanted features sitting there.Comment

Re: Plasma Owners?
Denon is always a solid choice when it comes to receivers. Which Onkyo did you have? Was it one of the 600s (605, 606, 607...) ?Yeah, I had an Onkyo I bought 2 years ago for $450 which the HDMI board started acting wonky. Re: Plasma Owners?
It was the 606. I do not recommend it to anyone. The thing worked great for me up until a few months ago. The problem I had was the HDMI board on the 606 starts acting up. My PS3 would take forever to handshake.......but my Blu-ray Player and when I had a 360 ddn't have that same issue. The 606 ran ultra hot, so I could fry an egg on it.Comment

Re: Plasma Owners?
True, that was the one knock on the 600 series. I read that things got better with the 607.
I have an older Onkyo HDMI AVR ...the 574. It can handle the lossless audio via LPCM (doesn't do the decording itself) Doesn't run overly hot, but it gets pretty warm.Comment

Re: Plasma Owners?
That is good. It seems like they fixed the heat issues with later models, but I just didn't feel comfortable going back to an Onkyo. So I went ahead with the Denon, it has less features than what I had, but less likely to have complicated issues too.Comment
