A plasma is too bright? That's usually the big knock on plasmas and not the other way around. I'm not trying to start a debate as we can agree to disagree. Plasmas aren't more popular....#1 reason being that people have been brainwashed to fear burn-in and don't even consider a plasma. Up until about 4-5 years ago that was a wise choice.
Plasmas have been on the endangered species since then (and just lost Pioneer as a plasma manufacturer of the best HDTV ,Kuro elite, money can buy).

LCDs are worry-free for the most part and I guess that counts for something.

Oh OK, good to know. Because when I see them at the Store they are so bright so I figure that is how they are. Oh cool to know too. I thought Plasma were more popular. I don't really know that much about LCD or Plasma. I think in about 2 or 3 years I will get a Sammy LED. I do know one thing Panny is the king of Plasma.

I had the exact opposite happen when I went to check TVs out at Sears. I'm pretty sure they actually turned the brightness/contrasts on all the plasmas down and the LCD's up as bright as possible.

The plasma I ended up getting wasn't even turned on when I went to Sears. Thought maybe it was a broken display. Nope. Turns out it was on sale and the cheapest 50 inch display they had. Surprise, surprise....

I used to work for Sears (about 3 years ago) and you were on commission. So it was in YOUR best interest to sell the most expensive set each and every time. LCDs tend to be the more expensive so they'll be shown in the most favorable light.

I still recommended Vizio's to most people on a budget and price matched almost every tv i sold down to the lowest cost for the customer. Can't tell you how many people I talked out of $30-50 cables and wrote down the web address to monoprice.com

yeah scoot, people knock Plasma for being to dark, I'm not sure what has happen but my set looks even better then when I bought it, the picture is freaking awesome. I do not see the picture people fake looking, that's why I went to plasma myself. My plasma looks so close to my HDTV CRT picture, and my crt has a better picture them many LCD I have seen. I;m not worrying about anything anymore just enjoing my set.

As for my polasma when I;m gaming, yes it does look much better then my RPTV that I had. I notice a lot of screen door effect on RPTV and LCD, I get no of thi son my plasma just a freaking clear and smooth picture as I never seen.

Instant upgrade over tv speakers. Be sure to place your sub in a corner and you should be good to go.

I have Sony floorstanders for my fronts (left and right) , a Bic America center channel and Pioneer bookshelfs for rears. No sub as the Sonys handle the bass. The Harman Kardon 154 5.1 channel receiver running the show. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SSF-7000-...1435353&sr=8-3

Not the greatest set-up, but it works for now.

So where do a put the sub woof? I have a TV stand, but should I put on the side of the stand? or is that too close to the TV.

Ideally, any corner would work. You can experiment with "which" corner is best though.

OH OK. I don't have a corner. I was just going to put the sub woof. by the side of the TV stand. How far should it be from the TV?
