Agreed, what a terrible year for Idol, I may quit watching....where's this years Adam Lambert??

I agree, There are no Wow factors at all this year and there really is no one that I look forward to seeing.

Yeah, at least the judges, for the most part, recognize that. They say the same thing to nearly every contestant "there was no wow factor, you weren't unique, etc,etc".

Maybe Simon sabotaged the show on his way out by picking singers with less "oomph"?? Doubtful but I wonder because this is really the first year that I *ever* recall watching where no one at all really made me want to watch. Ever.

While not as bad as the women, the guys weren't much better. I mentioned during the auditions how I didn't see a lot of talent and I still feel the same way.

I did crack up when Simon called Kara a cougar and when one of the judges mentioned how some people stood up during the performance from that shaggy haired kid, Simon said they were leaving

Simon is the only guy that cuts out all the bs and tells it like it is. I've agreed with everything he has said except for the praise he gave to the guy that did the Snow Patrol cover.

Yeah, you're right Van and that's why I am almost surely done with American Idol when Simon leaves. I think their ratings will tank hard when he is gone. Especially if this season continues down the woeful path it's on now.

Assuming the US version of X Factor goes up against American Idol, I predict X Factor will get bigger ratings than American Idol by Season 2.

Simon is the heart and soul of American Idol. Once you factor in there's a good chance Paula will be joining him and perhaps Randy and Seacrest, I think the glory days for American Idol are over.

People can bash Simon all they want, but deep down inside they know he's a huge reason why AI has been so successful over the years.

From last nights show, I can see the 2 girls that got voted off. I totally think America was wrong on the 2 guys that were voted off. I don't know how Tim Urban made it through or Alex Lambert.

They all deserved to get voted off, except Jenelle cuz she's so freaking much eye candy it's not even funny. I have no desire now to watch the girls except to see if that DiDi girl has an onstage meltdown.

I was listening to Howard Stern yesterday and he was just trashing the show. He says it's pretty much done now and has jumped the shark. He says for some reason he's still watching but mostly because it's like a train wreck. He really can't stand Ellen, says she looks like a Keebler Elf (omg that is so spot on IMO).

I hate to say it but I think Howard is right. This is the season the show begins its descent into history. As Simon would say, it's become utter rubbish. At this point you may not see too bad of ratings since people are somewhat invested into this year already, but next year is where you will see a huge drop off in ratings.

This year's lackluster year of laughable talent combined with Simon's leaving will cause many, like myself, to abandon the show and follow Simon to his new show. AI is not dead yet, and won't be next year, but mark your calendars, this is the year it began.

BTW - Anyone else feel Ellen adds absolutely zero to the show? She seems nice enough and earlier rounds she was somewhat funny and enjoyable (this coming from someone who didn't like her much to begin with) but now she just really has nothing to say to each contestant. You can tell by watching her she is just drawing blanks on what to say. I think she's one and done for the show.

Doubtful. Idol's ratings are up and so are her shows.

Ellen really has no business being on the show. I know she is an entertainer but she offers nothing on the music side of things. She is stumbling through her judgment after each singer and it really does get annoying after awhile.

The Olympics beat Idol one night only (first time Idol has lost a timeslot since 2004).

I'll be honest, I don't care who gets voted off. They all pretty much suck. I'm praying Simon starts picking on Ellen.

I also want to see Howard Stern become a judge because he says he would ask Ellen all sorts of personal questions on live tv.

Agreed that the talent level makes it hard to watch this year. I skipped 1/2 the guys Tuesday night. The only memorable performance I saw was Big Mike.
The woman did better this week though. Especially the first (toothless) and last one that sang Aretha. And I liked that straight hiared blond (Lily?) both weeks.

The guys were abysmal. I almost didn't even watch the girls but I'm glad I did because they were much better. I liked the girl that did Aretha as well. And Lily was fantastic with her song as well as Crystal. I guess Pete1210 and I have similar tastes.

I guess I agree with the initial judgement now by the judges that this is the women's year. I don't see any guys beating any of them (so far). Honestly I was really close to removing my season pass from my DVR after the guys episode. I was thinking I'm not wasting 5 hours a week on this. But the girls saved it for me for another week anyways.
