Re: The Amazing Spider-Man (2012 film)
Just got back from seeing it. I'll post my thoughts later but the short version is I loved it. It almost felt like watching a Spider-Man comic unfold on screen.
I'm probably gonna go see it again tomorrow. Can't wait to get the BluRay as well.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man (2012 film)
The commericals for this movie don't look very good to me, but I'm interested to see what the general feedback is. I didn't really think the last Spiderman movies were all that great.
And I dig going to the movies by myself as well. I've never gotten any strange looks and even if I did I wouldn't pay it any attention. I don't go see films as often as I used to, but when I wanna see something I'd rather just go instead of trying to track someone down to watch with me. I enjoy my own company though, I know a lot of people don't like to do it.Comment

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man (2012 film)
Just got back from the midnight showing. Overall I liked the movie. It stayed very true to the comics and I enjoyed the acting then the previous trilogy. Andrew Garfield plays the Peter Parker role perfectly and I didn't think anyone could top Tobey Maguire, but he did. Emma Stone and Kirsten Dunst is a toss-up. Dennis Leary is great in the film also. If I had to rate it, I would probably say 8/10 and it's arguably the second best Spider-Man movie ever made behind Spider-Man 2, that movie was just amazing. My only complaint was that it felt like the story took way too long to really kick in. It was a solid hour in before Parker really became his alter-ego and in a 2 hour and 15 minute long movie I think they should have sped that process up a little. The great news is that there are going to be more of them just based off the ending and the comic books. Some pretty dramatic and sad stuff is coming up in the story too so I'm really excited to watch this series (trilogy?) play out.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago BlackhawksComment

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man (2012 film)
Nope.
As for the movie, like I said earlier, I loved it. I'm still thinking about it and I have the urge to watch it again right now.
To start off, a lot of people have labeled this as a "dark and gritty" reboot of Spider-Man or that they're trying to replicate The Dark Knight trilogy. That's wrong. This is still Spider-Man and it holds true to the comics, more so than the original Spider-Man trilogy.
Andrew Garfield is a gigantic improvement over Tobey Maguire both as Peter Parker and as Spider-Man. They pretty much nailed Spider-Man with this movie. The quips, the fast-talking, the confidence, the web-shooters, and the child-like personality is all there and it's great. There's a lot of great little moments that show you this is just a kid in a suit, and also some good comedic moments that happen within the context of the character and the movie unlike Spider-Man 2 & 3 with the dance scenes, the emo hair cuts, etc.
Speaking of the older movies, if you're not a fan of them re-telling the origin story then you might not like this because the origin takes up a pretty good chunk of the movie. Personally, I liked what they did with it. It's not a carbon copy of the comics or the original movie, though there are little nods to those (there is a certain line they didn't happen to use, which disappointed the Spider-Man nerd in me). I also thought they did a good job setting up future movies with how they crafted the origin and the way certain characters are connected.
The characters aside from Peter/Spider-Man are really well done. One of the reviews I posted in here mentioned how good the supporting cast is and it's definitely true. Uncle Ben and Aunt May, Curt Connors, Gwen Stacy, even Flash Thompson, are all played really well and make the movie just that much better.
Peter and Gwen's interactions are great, and I actually found myself wanting to see more of them together on-screen. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise since this is the same director that made (500) Days of Summer. Emma Stone easily blows Kirsten Dunst out of the water, and not just in looks either, although she does look super-hot as a blonde (at least I think so). It makes me wonder if they're actually going to introduce Mary-Jane or if they're going to stray from what we think is the inevitable.
Anyways, I should wrap this post up since I'm starting to embrace my inner Blzer; This IMO is a successful reboot of Spider-Man. If you're on the fence, it's worth seeing, even more so if you're a Spider-Man fan. They more than do the character justice and I'm really excited to see where they take the sequel because there are a ton of directions they can go.
EDIT: A couple more random thoughts.....
-I love the way the web-swinging was filmed. There's a good sense of velocity and it looks really good.
-The Lizard CGI looked pretty awful.
-The fight scenes are great. They did a great job of showing off Spider-Man's quickness and agility, as well as his use of his webbing. There's also a good amount of action between him and the Lizard, which was awesome.
-The movie seemed to drag in certain spots. Could have just been me though.
-I know the constant unmasking was a topic here. It does happen like the previews have shown but it happens within reason. It isn't just taking the mask off for the sake of it. If I'm recalling correctly, only one person sees Peter's face through him being unmasked. I think there's a total of 3 people that know Peter Parker is Spider-Man, but it's logical.
-Apparently there is an end credits scene.Last edited by BlueNGold; 07-03-2012, 08:01 AM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.
