Depends on the price point. If its around 600, its probably a buy since I could sell my Itouch and Kindle and pay for most of it. If its a grand...no way.

Pretty much the same here. I think it would be a steal at $600.

I just dont know how they can justify charging a grand when you can get a macbook for the same price.

I've been hearing that it should be $699. If so, i'll buy one for sure. I'm like you guys, if it's a grand i'm probably waiting until the prices come down.

I would like the newest phone, even though I just got the 3g s. Problem is, the new phone will probably be too expensive, since I just got the 3g s. Unless I can up my contract again.

Everything I've heard is saying $1000 is the most likely price point. However the #1 reason I have no interest in the "table" is because everyone is saying it will run a modified version of the iPhone OS. Screw that, I want a touchscreen version of Snow Leopard. I've always wished my MacBook had a touchscreen, and I thought this "tablet" was going to be the answer. It seems that won't be the case though. Basically the most reliable rumors are saying it's an over-sized iPhone, and will even be offered on contract by Verizon/At&t. Not what I was hoping for if that's true.

They said on Foxnews today that Apple will reveal that the iPhone will be opened to ALL carriers. They reported it as being very likely, albeit unconfirmed.

thmst30 - i've read it will have a hybrid OS of iphone + snow leopard. For example I've read several places it will ship with iLife. That doesn't currently run on iPhones.

I wonder if the iPhone will stay with both. On the touchscreen joint they are debuting, I don't know. If it is running the iPhone OS, not a chance. What would be the purpose to buy one for? Would make more sense to just wait a few more months and get the latest update to their MBP. Is the MBP getting an update or will they announce an update for it at this event or later on in the year sometime?

Uh have you used an iphone or ipod touch? I got one for Christmas and find myself using it far more than my Macbook Air. Just because its not a traditional computing OS doesn't mean it's not useful.

1. Still not exactly sure if a 1000 dollar tablet (or 800 with contract...) is as big a deal as everyone is making it out to be, but of course people would make it out to be some kind of revolution, it's an Apple product. Still don't see the point... and I'm not sure if people that aren't on the Apple payroll will either.

2. I bet a ton of iPhone developers are hoping that the iPhone moves over to all carriers... they have a possibility to be making more money. I'd be pretty surprised if Apple brings the iPhone to Verizon, since did run the "Everything iDon't, Droid Does" campaign. If it does come to Verizon, though, I have to admit, I don't care.

I think it won't be specifically coming to any carrier, from what i've heard iphone will simply be open to ALL carriers. That would mean those droid campaigns wouldn't mean anything since VZW wasn't negotiating specifically getting the iphone as an exclusive.
