I mean it IS an iPhone. It even doesn't have flash like the iPhone. Of all the cool multi-touch tablet ideas that Apple could have run with using their actual OS, they decided to simply make a large iPhone. Fail IMO.

Well thats not really re-inventing the wheel.

It just looks like a huge iphone for half blind people.

It does nothing an itouch/iphone doesnt do already and likely cheaper

How does that make it a great mobile device then when you have to lug a keyboard around? Not saying netbooks are good by any means, but needing a keyboard defeats the purpose a bit.

Still waiting for the "killer" announcement about it, otherwise it's underwhelming so far.

Actually it does. You can access iphoto on the tablet. Rumor has it that they are adding ilife and iwork to the tablet. Its more like a stripped down macbook then a ipod touch imo.

plus you don't need to lug around a keyboard, you can use the virtual keyboard. i'd rather have a 10" screen than a tiny screen and a tiny keyboard so i think they did that aspect just fine. $1000 is too steep for me right now though, i'll wait for it to price drop i guess..

I just don't understand what function this tablet fills that a laptop cannot do.

I guess I'm not underwhelmed because I didnt expect much in the first place. All of the press over the past few days has said it would be a 10' multimedia touchscreen device and thats what it is. The keyboard isnt bad once you get used to it and if you still have it you have another option.

I dont like netbooks so I probably wont buy the iPad but it does fit in that niche.

Yeah, but iphoto, ilife, and iwork do nothing for me (and a lot of people)...They haven't given me a reason to buy, other than the cool factor and the screen size...I can understand it being somewhat useful, but i dunno.
