So what would 3G access cost for this? I've never priced netbooks through Verizon or AT&T, so have no clue what they charge for that. Just seems excessive.

I mean, cool that you can get online anywhere, but 3G isn't exactly the fastest speed on the planet compared to most Wi-Fi hotspots.

We have a couple of verizon netbooks at work and the machine is 200 bucks plus the cost of an aircard monthly cost for internet service, whichever you choose, limited or unlimited data

The Kindle would be a complete waste. Considering everything this can do, it's not even really a comparison.

And we've only been here one hour.

You asked why "I" wouldnt buy another eReader. I already own an Ipod so the music/video features dont matter. The Kindle is 300 bucks cheaper, access to a bigger library and is smaller.

If i had none of those things then the Ipad is an option but how can you realistically expect to store lots of music, books and documents (with i Work) in 16GB?

At that price...no. I dont see a ton of schools paying 499 for a 16GB device. I know my job wouldnt.

I made no mention of an e-reader. A lot of people already carry around laptops. I see a laptop being just as useful.
