Re: Justified F/X - new tv show

I'm liking it. It is very csi-ish in a way with the new people and new problems, but there's always some stuff that carries over like his dad and the dude he shot in jail...those will come back throughout. I was expecting it to be more of the main story-line each show, but like other's have said I'm having fun with it.

I thought the last show was pretty good.

Yeah...The show has a nice tone for me.

The underlying problem for some is the scale back in violence/intensity from the first episode but they're in a mode to show the investigations/reprocussion from those acts versus him shooting someone dead every week.

How long could he be a U.S. Marshall if he shot 20 some people a year?

Yeah, even Marshall Matt Dillion's gunfights were judiciously sprinkled in. I'll probably give it 2 or 3 more episodes.

I'm surprised too that there's not been more intensity, ala The Shield, but I still like the show because of the lead actor and how he is such an interesting character.

I think I've changed my perception of this show to be a bit more of a slow mover and because of it I like it. And it does still have a slightly unpredictable nature to it overall.

As someone said, we can't have him shooting people left and right as it'd just be unrealistic. With that being said I do hope they can generate a bit more story that carries across from episode to episode, I didn't realize that the stores on this were going to be so self-contained.

                Its ok so far.

But I just feel like I was sold The Shield and ended up getting CSI in terms of tone.

Earlier in this thread I noted that. I think that's the reason he missed the middle Justified shows. They originally wanted him killed off in the pilot, but the Raylan-Boyd chemistry was too good, and if Justified makes it to Season 2 Googins will more than likely be there.

Very good episode tonight-the best of the series IMO. The previews for next week look good too.

Its starting to become a parade of Deadwood alums.

I knew I saw that guy somewhere. Further research shows that Rev Smith (Ray Mckinnon), his wife Lisa Blount and Walton Goggins founded The Ginny Mule production company which picked up an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film (The Accountant) way back in 2001. Blount (pictured below) is best know as the hot bodied friend of Debra Winger, in An Officer And A Gentleman.

I'm still enjoying the first season and the last 2 shows really picked up with Boyd back in the mix.
A lot of good acting in this series and its getting more interesting with the characters now more developed and intertwined. Like Raylon's parents - the initial episode with them was good but seemed like filler. Now this week they are back in the thick of it.
And Boyd's father. I'm pretty sure he was Tom the "other" from Lost.

I think this was the first episode without a new Deadwood alum in quite a while. Last week we had Johnny Burns though. And I missed one from ealier. I'm going through season 3 of Deadwood right now and the Harlan cop that is now in jail played Harry Manning on Deadwood. Harry was the guy that ran against Bullock for Sherif but really wanted to be a fireman instead.

And yeah they have done a great job of tying together alot of storylines that seemed kind of pointless at the time.
