Yeah basically Apple did what Microsoft been wanting to do for the past decade now. Get everybody to use all of their devices.

Man......if Apple made a video game console, they would truly have taken over the world.

I mean lets look at what Microsoft and Apple did, since they both shared the same goals.

Microsoft:

PC
Zune
Windows Phone
Xbox 360

Apple:

Mac
Ipod
Iphone
Ipad

Kind of funny how thin the line is between success and failure.

You know what the craziest part about all this is? Zune was actually pretty good.

Apple has great marketing, and not to mention a good product. However, their marketing is what started this all. Plus, the all 'i' crap, lol.

While I think it would be awesome if they entered the console market, I don't think they'd dominate as they do in other markets they've entered/created. They would have to get some 1st-party developers to make people buy games in their console in an increasingly non-exclusive console world.

I can just imagine how crazy awesome that would be though. Apple ecosystem + cross-platform gaming on their iOS devices. All via digital distribution (iTunes) which a lot of people already have.

They're already moving into that space, ever so slightly. Whether by choice or not.

With the iPad2 & iPhone4S, you can mirror any game you want onto your TV screen with an AppleTV.

So ANYTHING you see on your device will be on your HDTV.

I'm not saying it's impossible, I just don't think they would do it emphatically as they have done with their other devices. If they do a dedicated gaming console, people won't switch just for the ecosystem alone. The games will still be the driving force.

So it's a matter of getting developers on board and having developers within Apple to develop exclusives.

I think that developers would jump all over a Apple gaming device as long as the architecture isn't something way too complicated like the PS3. If they can get a comparable online service to Live or even PSN, I think that Nintendo, MSFT, and Sony will have another competitor breathing down their neck. The only Apple product I own is the iPhone, so in no way am I a fanboy, but I can see them at some point entering the market. Like Pared has said, they have positioned themselves very well with their other offerings and could revolutionize console gaming since they do think out of the box. Console gaming is to a point where I think it need a solid kick in the *** and it's getting a bit stagnant.

My only concern would be with their yearly sku model and how they would incorporate that into a gaming console without messing around the core infrastructure considering that gaming consoles are a different business model than releasing new phones, tablets, and ipods each year.

Of course they would get 3rd party support. That's more money for the developers. What I'm saying is that wouldn't be enough. They would need their own games that are exclusive to Apple because most of these 3rd party games will be available on the PS3/360/Wii.

And no, a yearly refresh would not be wise. Sure, they can do it but they have to make sure the games still work on older devices. Maybe after three generations, that's when the newer games require your device to be upgraded simply because the older models can't handle the games.

It's kind of like having an iPhone 3G. Your phone is fine up to a certain iOS version, but if you really want all the cool new features (plus faster hardware), then you'd have to upgrade. You're not really being forced to, but technically you are because you can't have the newest iOS.

Thinking about selling my MBP when I finish school in December and use this as my primary device. I don't even use my MBP much. Got a desktop I can use for my music and things.

I picked up two 32gb Ipad2 for me and the misses.

Must say for device I knocked when it first came out. I love it way better than the Xoom and the Touchpad that I used to own.

I recently picked up infinity blade (I know I'm late) it's a great game though.

So In the past two months I bought
2 32gb iPhone 4s
2 32gb IPad 2

Pending Purchases
Appletv
iMac or MacBook Pro or Air (Still have to decide which one would be best for me)

Nonetheless Apple is slowly catching me in there web.

That being said anyone owns a time Capsule is it worth it?
