So I'm thinking of jumping into the iPad pool....my question is, as a starter is there one that really stands above the others or are they all somewhat similar?

Found some cheap Gen 2's on Craiglist and was just curious outside of the retina display is there that big of a leap forward to the 3 or 4?

Thought about the Mini too but I kinda want something larger.

Yes, the 4 would be a lot better and you can snag one of those pretty cheap. The iPad 2 is lacking in RAM and the 3 and 4 are about equivalent with the 4 having the better processor and the lightning charging port.

iPad 1 + 2, Mini 1 obsolete IMO. Not enough RAM.
iPad 3 + 4 should be good for a few more iterations.
iPad Air and Retina Mini the latest and greatest.

I sold my Mini for the Retina Mini and would not go back. The display is beautiful. Go retina or don't do it at all. Retina displays started with the iPad 3.

I bought the ipad mini retina when it came out. Absolutely love it, I use it all the time.

Been a while since anyone posted here. Anyone have the ipad mini with retina? My current mini is terribly slow and I wanted to know a couple of things.

Do the pages automatically reload in safari when you leave a tab and come back due to memory issues? I purchased the Mini i have back in April and would have thought this to be fixed but it is not. Is this an issue on the new mini? I remember the ipad that was released around the same time as the mini not having these issues so it struck me curious the mini did.

Yes that happens in Safari still on the new mini I have it. I don't think it does with Chrome browser though.

Thinking about picking up an Air but there's no point if there's going to be a new model out this year, would rather just have that.
