    Re: Dear John

Saw it yesterday with my wife. Not a movie I would pick up to see myself, but it was ok, sometimes very realistic.
    My Specs:

    ZX Spectrum
    CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
    GPU: Monochrome display
    RAM: 48 KB
    OS: Sinclair BASIC

Is this the movie that they were advertising as having the same director (or creator, etc) of The Notebook?

Yes and I'll admit it I didn't find the Notebook all that bad. In fact I thought it was a good movie. But this movie was like a generic version of the Notebook. It just wasn't good and was just cliche.

Edit: It wasn't the same director but it was based off a book by the same Arthur as The Notebook.

I have not seen a bonafide "chick-flick" in some time, so maybe I just wasn't accustomed to their nature, but this movie made me cringe. With each successive cliche, I sunk further and further into my seat. I left really wanting to punch something in the face. I just couldn't believe spontaneous rainfall, cancer, death of a loved one, marine fight moves on beaches, autism, love letters, a breakup, slow-motion surfing, charity work, horses, and a Volkswagen could all be shamelessly shoved into one single movie.

And then there was Channing Tatum trying to cry.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Not defending this movie at all, but uhh aren't those a given in a movie named Dear John?

Yeah but my list of cliches would have been incomplete if I didn't throw them in there.
