Re: The new horrible Hollywood Trend...REBOOTS
I really enjoyed Superman Returns and it's tribute to the Donner films. Singer had big plans for the sequal but wasn't given the chance. Now Superman is said to be getting a reboot with Christopher Nolan attached to it.“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

On a side note...
After further review I've decided my life is rather disappointing in its scope and plot.
I'm looking into giving my life a reboot.AUBURN TIGERS

Re: The new horrible Hollywood Trend...REBOOTS
Who knew that Ben Affleck and that other douchebag singlehandedly fought off the Japanese at Pearl Harbor and retaliated by dropping a bomb in the Doolittle raid?! Those guys ROCKED!!! [/sarcasm]

They didn't have Ticonderoga class AEGIS Missile Cruisers at Pearl Harbor.

Re: The new horrible Hollywood Trend...REBOOTS
I wouldn't mind one in 15 or 20 years. They could have a somewhat similar beginning premise with the whole bathroom thing, but then stretch out and create a trilogy based solely on Jigsaw's legacy, going on completely different tangents.
Basically, it would be something where a trilogy is written and planned from the beginning, not where things are added on and planned late with new writers and such.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

The entire point of the movies is to invent crazy ways to kill people. At least with Friday the 13th, Halloween, or TCM there's an element that goes beyond "OMG he stabbed him!!!" whereas Saw delivers nothing other than the elaborate ways people are killed.Comment

I don't see what the purpose of the Saw movies would be.

All of the subsequent ones, though, truthfully had no point to me other than trying to one-up the one before that.Comment

Re: The new horrible Hollywood Trend...REBOOTS
A reboot of Saw would probably entail a better director (say...David Fincher), a better black/white cop team (say...Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt instead of Danny Glover and *white cop*), and a much more charismatic killer (say...Kevin Spacey instead of *old guy*). Then, instead of focusing solely on the "OMG his head came off!!!" you maybe show the killings afterward where you still get the "OMG that's horrible" but without making the brutality the main focus.
Or perhaps you just watch the movie Saw borderline plagiarized since it is far superior in every way.Comment

The first one tried to have that vibe, but two people attempted to survive and died and the other three had to kill a person.
