Stannis isn't a spoiler when Ned mentions his name every chance he got that he's the rightful next in line for the throne. I think we've been pretty good in regards to the spoilers but WTF ever.

Not talking about that. It's great that you guys have read 3 books ahead. Just the same, those of us who only watch the series would appreciate keeping future talk, regardless of who or what, out of the series thread. If that upsets you, sorry.AUBURN TIGERS

Nothing anyone says on a message board will upset me. Ever . As I said we've been pretty good in regard to keeping spoilers out this thread. Case in point. NED.

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO Sunday nights @ 9PM EST)
Wow what an excellent episode and the last few minutes of that was so gripping. I did think for a moment he was going to be saved but then as Ned tuned out the crowd and bowed his head down it kind of sunk in and they way they did that was just fantastic.
I love ned and I definitely understand why a lot of people are upset, I really wanted Ned to make it out but now I almost like it more that he didn't. So some dude was going to take out the guy who was going to kill ned and were going to escape? I would of been a lot more upset if that had happened. Ned may of had a friend in the crowd but even if the hooded guy (don't know the term, the guy who killed ned) was killed they wouldn't of survived 30 seconds, realistically, imo.
When a character you care about gets in to a dangerous situation, you are going to feel it because you know Martin will kill anyone off.
I don't know, not too many shows do that kind of thing and most that kill of a major character early on are for shock value. (not to say this wasn't shocking, but wasn't done for that reason)Comment

Yea I have to agree with some of the "watchers". Some guys in here need to use the spoil tag a tad bit more. I've only just begun the 2nd book and even things like " Some characters you hate now you wont later" deserve aSpoilerSpoilerTyrion stabbing the horse w/ his helm, then kill the guyLast edited by Hiro1; 06-13-2011, 08:24 PM.Psn: Plex-07Comment

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO Sunday nights @ 9PM EST)
Saying characters in general develop and grow for better or worse spoils something? The last thing I want to do is spoil a thing in this story so ill go crazy with spoil tags.
Spoilerquite frankly I don't really view any of the characters in a traditional sense of bad or good. Except for maybe Joff or the Mountain, its hard to pin 'bad Guy' on a character for me.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO Sunday nights @ 9PM EST)
Ned's death is what I've been waiting for in this thread. I remember reading that while I was on the train and I stopped and thought I might cry. Very emotional scene for me in that story.
But I also appreciated it because it made me realize that anyone could go. It also made me realize that the show isn't about Ed Stark or about proving who the rightful king is. It's bigger than that."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Not so much that they skipped them. More so that they made Tyrion's part in the battle a joke. I'll live though since it was still an awesome episode.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO Sunday nights @ 9PM EST)
As a series only person, I didn't know this was coming, but I wasn't surprised at all. I was getting that "Mad King" reincarnated vibe off of Geoffrey from the second I saw him sitting on the Throne. That still doesn't mean that I don't feel the way Larry in the YouTube video feels.
A "painful" as it may be to see a character you like gone just like that, its really awesome to have a show where almost anything can happen.Jordan Mychal Lemos

I know everybody is shocked at Ned's death, but was anybody else surprised about the revelation of the blind dude at the Wall being Aemon Targaryen? I remember reading that in the book and I couldn't believe it. Everybody thinks the Targaryens are gone except for Dany, and Aemon's just chilling at the Wall.Lux y VeritasComment

I'm hooked on this show and story. Just bought the 4-book set from Borders tonight. Let's see if I can get all four of them done before the new one comes out next month.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO Sunday nights @ 9PM EST)
I totally didn't realize until I read about the foreshadow that was done in the 1st episode where the Direwolf was killed by the deer, both animals insignia of Ned and Robert's familes. The wolf was not suppose to be south of the wall like Ned was not suppose to be in King's Landing.
I love Easter eggs like this, I'll have to pay attention to every families insignia and see if those animals play any part on the show.Comment
