It's already been confirmed that Season 2 will be only 10 episodes.

If ratings/buzz continue to improve, and Season 1 DVD sales are strong, then Season 3 will either get an increase in episodes or a dual season like the last season of The Sopranos.

At least I hope so. As someone who's read the books, A Clash of Kings is doable in 10 episodes if HBO makes a few judicious cuts. A Storm of Swords? IMPOSSIBLE. Even 12-13 episodes would be a tight fit.

Oh thanks for clearing that up, didn't realize they had already set the number of episodes.

It would be smart for HBO is eventually extend the seasons past ten episodes so they can get closer to being able to sell for syndication.

If you haven't seen the newest episode yet stay out of the thread until you have or deal with consequences.
I'm tagging anything remotely spoilerish because people got upset over general comments about how the story is going to have twists and turns in the future.

Saw on Twitter that Gerard Butler was going to be Stannis but later found that people are saying its a hoax.

Not reading through the last couple pages of the thread, as I still haven't watched the finale and don't want anything spoiled. So, if this question has been asked, I apologize.

Does the first season end right with the end of the first book, or does it leak into book 2? I want to pick up the second book after the first season is over, so I just wanted to know. Thanks fellas, look forward to watching this tonight!

The season ends right at Book 1. Though I believe a minor scene in the show last night actually occurred in book 2.

A little leakage for a couple of characters. Most end with the book though.

I can't see how this show could ever be syndicated - not for American TV, anyway. How many scenes don't involve R-rated violence, nudity, or language?

The best way to ensure that subsequent seasons of Game of Thrones get the bigger budget necessary for more episodes and to depict more SFX-heavy elements is to spread the gospel. Get as many people as possible to watch the show, read the books, and buy the DVDs/Blurays.

You should read the first book (at least). Gives you a lot more insight into the characters and events.

I'm sure. I've got a ton of backlog on the book front, though. I'm working through the ESPN book, then I have a lot of Soft. Eng. books to go through. I can probably get to GoT, though.
