For those wondering about the scale of the map, there's nothing official, but Martin has said that the Wall is 300 miles long and that Westeros (including the land mass north of the Wall) is approximately the size of South America. So it's generally thought that the distance from the Wall to the southernmost tip of the continent is a little over 3000 miles (same distance as from the BC/Yukon border to the US/Mexico border). The distance between Kings Landing and Winterfell is thought to be 1200-1500 miles.

Pretty well done, although they left out Stannis Baratheon (perhaps because he's unlikely to appear until Season 2).

Watched the first episode and it's pretty awesome! I've never read the books but this feels pretty **** to me. For those in the know, I'm guessing the Starks are the main characters in this? Or do all the Houses get equal billing?

Had a bit of a hard time figuring out the names of the characters but these guides have helped.

In the book each chapter is told from the POV of one of the main characters. The main characters in the first book are Ned, Catelyn, Jon, Sansa, Arya, Dany, and Tyrion. So yeah you could say the Starks are the main characters.

Awesome. Do the kids eventually grow up? I'd research myself but I don't really want to be spoiled with all the other details. I haven't felt so excited to watch a next episode since LOST.

I'm nearly done the fourth book. If watching the first episode didn't inspire you to read the series I don't know what will. My wife recently finished the first book as well and all we did was cheer and high five each other throughout the whole episode. This show really seems to cater to the fans of the book series. And just like the book

Yeah, they do age, but I'm not quite sure how many years have been covered over the course of the first four books.

I think it has been about two years.

Really? That seems rather short to me.

I could have sworn the events in the first book take place over the course of a year especially considering

2 to 3 years. The Wiki time line says the books take place in the years 298-300 after Aegon's Landing.

A non-readers review of the first episode. NSFW due to language. He does discuss the preview at the end of the episode starting about th 9:20 mark. If you skipped that you might want to stop there. If you watched it there aren't any other spoilers since he hasn't read the books.

He gets a lot of details wrong but his passion is nice. Plus its fun to hear what people think of characters this early in the story and how their views will change as time goes by.

Does anybody know when the second episode ends? Like what events take place near the end of it? Because I knew that...

Don't forget Bran, he has a single chapter dedicated to him early in the book (I believe the 15 minute preview before the series started was part of his chapter)
