Re: Game of Thrones (HBO Sunday nights @ 9PM EST)

Loved the second episode. As someone that hasn't read the books, I have become sucked up right away and can't wait for next week's episode.

As for the sex/nudity on the show and HBO in general, it doesn't surprise me in this series at all. Having watched many HBO series', it is pretty much a given in any HBO show. If you are going to watch a series on HBO, you pretty much gotta expect a significant amount of sex and/or nudity.

Speaking of HBO, I feel like they really have a lot of series' like I like right now. With this series for the next couple of months, and then several more series' returning this summer/fall: Entourage, Bored to Death, How to Make It in America, Boardwalk Empire. Good times for HBO.

EDIT: Also, for those that are familiar with the series, do those Wolf creatures that each of the Stark children received mature very quickly or is significant time passing in between these episodes?

The Direwolves mature at a very fast rate.

        Thanks, that makes sense.

Definitely, considering that there's been less nudity in the show than the books actually call for.

As for the second episode, the first third or so was kind of "meh", but the rest was awesome. The first episode left me thinking "that was pretty cool," but by the end of the second episode I was enjoying it as much as I did the books, which I've read multiple times.

Awesome second episode. I agree that the first third was pretty slow but it picked-up quickly soon after.

I feel like a lot has happened in only two episodes compared to the books. Could be my memory playing tricks on me, but did not expect Sansa and Arya to already be in the situation they are in so soon in the series.

It's about the right pace so far. I think it seems like more time passes in the books just because there's way more exposition and narrative, while they obviously have to condense all that for the TV show.

Why is the Dwarf going to the black Watch?

Really like the series so far the Lannisters must be dealt with. They picked a perfect kid for that snotty nosed prince.

                    I want a Direwolf as a pet.

Also...I really want to see the Lannisters (all of them except the Dwarf) get knocked off. Quite the evil group those Lannisters.

Tyrion just wants to check out the wall, and the Night's Watch before heading back to King's Landing.

Not sure I'd want to check out the wall, given all the other "activities" he has at his disposal. He doesn't belive in the Walkers anyway. Something tells me he'll have quite the brush with them.

Because he wants to see some Snarks and Grumpkins.

Oh, Tyrion. Definitely a favorite of mine.

So far I'm enjoying it. They've stuck to the book just enough without being bound to it trying to reproduce it scene for scene and getting bogged down by the details.

If you haven't read the books and are somewhat lost on the characters, I highly suggest watching the episode on HBOgo with the special features enabled. It does a good job of showing quick character bios + names, motivations of the on screen characters, and some map locations.

HBO is going to hit a homerun with this series.

I am eagerly anticpating this thread exploding when certain plot elements occur. I have never read a series of books quite like this set.
