Yep. All the Android versions are code-named after desserts. 2.1 was Eclair, 2.2 is Froyo (frozen yogurt), the next one is going to be Gingerbread, etc.

I just picked one up and I think I'm in love. This is my first Android phone so I'm still getting used to it and can't quite give as much insight as other guys, but I'll post my thoughts after the weekend once I'm more used to it.

And it is an absolute MUST to download the Advanced Task Killer app for free in the app store. It will improve your battery life ten fold!

I had that task killer at first. After a while I realized it was making my battery drain faster. Usually takes a few cycles before your battery is up to par.

Can someone explain the extra charges for this phone to me? Are they mandatory, or can you live without them? I have an upgrade that I still haven't used and am thinking about pulling the trigger on this phone.

Really? Everyone else I know that runs Android swears by that app. We still don't have 4G in Cleveland yet (coming in September!) but I heard that when it does come it will drain your battery awfully quick when in use.

The only mandatory extra charge is $10 a month and it is more than likely to cover the extra data that you will be consuming. Well worth it IMO.

So you don't have to buy a special plan or anything? Like I'm on a family plan or something right now. Could I keep that and my minutes and just add $10 a month and be fine?

Eventually I will get this phone, but I just spent about a little over grand last week moving here to Vermont. One thing about where I live in VT, I am just 35 minutes away from Albany, NY, 3 hours from Canada, 2 hours from New Hampshire, 4 hours from Boston. So I have a lot of places I can hit up.

Up here in Vermont, they really not big on smartphones at all. I went passed the Sprint store and 2 radio shacks this late afternoon right around 3pm and all 3 places still had a ton of these phones left. I mean literally they were just piled up high and the clerks were like they only sold maybe 2 or 3 all day LOL.

Now where I use to live back in northwest Indiana, all the stores would have been sold out by 11am.

Yep, they're sold out everywhere in Cleveland already. Good thing I got my behind out of bed at 7:30 am today and drove straight to the Sprint store. I got to my store at around 8:20 am and was the 34th customer to buy an EVO.
