I'm all nostalgic and ish so it was pretty good but doesn't even come close to the original or even the 2nd one.

Re: Michael Bay Tapped To Relaunch Live-Action TMNT Franchise

I thought it was better than any of the past live action ones...

And it's mainly for one reason...Shredder is a bad ***.

All that being said, I feel like this movie knew what it was going to be, so it decided to embrace it and do it right. In some ways, it was like a satire on a typical Michael Bay movie. Really odd, but really...I kinda dug it.

Not an Emmy winner, but certainly a good enough popcorn action flick for me to enjoy.

I do wonder how this movie would have played out with an April O'Neal who doesn't have the acting ability of a piece of wood, but oh well.

I was a huge turtle fan growing up and this movie just plain sucked. It seriously pushed April as the hero and she didn't leave the damn movie for more than two minutes. Plus the inconsistencies within the movie like

Had low expectations going in and it turned out ok. I loved the turtles, the personalities were great just everything else was a big meh.

The story and origin were awful. I don't know how someone wrote this and thought it was an acceptable origin story. Just really awful. Full of plot holes. It definatley deserves its rotten score. But at least my 8 yr old son liked it. As a huge turtle fan its absoutley diapointing that this is how they return to the big screen. Anyone know if Michael Bay is going to have a hand in desroying ghostbusters as well?

I went in with pretty low expectations and have to say it wasn't a complete train wreck. There were several funny moments. This movie had Michael Bay written all over it. I will say that they nailed the personality of the turtles spot on.

                    My thoughts are basically this:

                    1) The origins was ridiculous. It made the whole movie feel very isolated, contained, and small. Dude wants to take over one city? The only person in the movie not directly related to April was Shredder.
                    2) Personalities were all great and I actually enjoyed the trite action hero role for Raphael completely with action hero-y stances and toothpick chewing. I even liked April's character despite being playing by Megan Fox.
                    3) CGI was turrible. Just turrible. It was cool and had a nice effect when the whole scene was CGI, but all the live-action and CGI scenes were distracting to me.
                    4) Both Shredder and Splinter were badasses, but damn if Shredder didn't look like ****ing Lord Zed from Power Rangers.
                    5) It really made me want to watch the cartoon.

I pretty much felt the same way. I feel like if they would have cast someone a little more charismatic than Megan Fox as April that this would have turned out to be a lot better.

I have to say though I'm surprised it wasn't as terrible as it was looking like it was going to be. I'm actually alright with them going ahead with a sequel. Not that I'll be rushing out to go see it but I think they can make a solid improvement from this one. Plus I really want to see Casey Jones.

I'm still trying to reconcile the turtles new look and how out of place they and Splinter look in scenes with humans. Never gelled well with me.

Agreed. They could have toned it down with all the tech on Donatello. Too over the top, IMO.

I gotta say its better than i thought it was gonna be. Most of our qualms stem from the fact most of us grew up with the classic tv show. but the look of them gave changed dramatically over the different series. The movie drew on many of those styles. The story was forgettable just a bad guy vs good guy movie but the originals were too. The new movie was less grounded in reality which is noticeable especially if you enjoyed the original 2 movies. We don't need every scene to be action set pieces. look back at the fight scenes in the first 2. no big explosions. They were simpler but they were better since its not sensory overload as it is with cgi
