The first 3 were just so darn good that they will be hard to top.

      Re: The Walking Dead

I've seen people say the show sucks because there is no zombies. LOL.
There's good reason for it. If they don't space out the zombie encounters, the show would become stale after like 5 episodes. I like the pacing a lot. I liked the finale A LOT. I was very, very, impressed. I had a pretty good idea where it was going from the start, but it still worked on multiple levels.

It makes sense to not have zombie attacks every week, aside from the staleness issues. What are you going to do in their situation? You're going to be avoiding the walkers at all costs. Fighting is a last resort. You can't have chainsaws vs. zombies every week, the show obviously isn't going for that. It appears to be a very human drama set around zombies, and I like the way it's blending with that. There were a few misses in the first 6 episodes, but overall, as the first zombie series ever, I think Darabont knocked it out of the park. Can't wait for next season.

My first thought was maybe they all were carriers, and that it is a much slower process in them, than what it entails when bitten... or maybe his wife and kid has it in a slow form. Since they did have to administer blood tests.

Since he did seem to hint at delaying the "inevitable"... but who knows! The whisper really did send me for a "damnnnnnnnn you" loop haha!

My guess is the doctor told him of the last known safe location(s) that were accessible.

It's possible but I'll say no based on Rick's reaction. Whatever the doc told Rick...it stunned him...like some sort of grim revelation.

That, and the doc did say the last place that held out the longest was France.

The doc could have also told him that they were the last of the last besides my slowly infected theory.

I liked the finale as well. It's good to know they didn't spend too much time in the building or have it leak into season 2.

I'm still interested to know more of what happened at the hospital with the military. Seemed like they were gunning down everyone, both alive and dead. Maybe it started out as some airborne bacteria and the military thought everyone was infected?

I wonder if we'll ever see Merle again in season 2.

It was good to see that Shane actually made sure to close the door and push the gurnee in front of the door, just in case that Rick was still alive. Last night's finale was great. I need to watch it again today as my buddy called in the middle of it so I was multitasking talking to him and trying to pay attention. It sucks that we have to wait till next October now.

I'm excited for season 2, but this season was mediocre after the debut. It was rushed into production but turned into a ratings hit for AMC. It's nice that they seem to acknowledge the poor writing by firing the staff.

^^^I think you may be right about the whisper.

And I also somewhat agree about the mediocrity of the middle episodes. The finale was great. The premiere was great. The in between was kind of miss-miss. It had its moments, though. I feel it worked overall, but some better writing will do it justice. Some of the dialog was a bit shoddy at times, and the general logic of some characters seemed a bit goofy. The stuff with Merle and his brother still doesn't make much sense from a logic standpoint, from the very first episode it all started. First he's nuts, then he cuts his hand off after they leave him for dead, then he apparently escapes, then his brother comes into the picture who is also nuts but sort of more level headed, then they decide to go back for a guy they all hate and is a danger to them all (although the bag of guns at least gave that one more weight), but then when they realize he escaped they just leave without even mentioning him again, or his brother saying anything about it.
