I credit Sleeping Dogs for infinitely increasing my admiration of this song.

Re: What are you listening to?

Spoiler
Kanye West | The Life Of Pablo: So I ducked out of giving this an honest review last week, but I'm ready this week. Kanye wasn't kidding when he said this was really a gospel album, this is probably the most consistently soulful Kanye has ever been. For all it was changed, the track listing up to Wolves was so smooth and it really did play like three long songs. It doesn't have Kanye's best bars (see: the bleached ******* bit) but I think this is only second to MBDTF in terms of instrumentals on a Kanye album. It's got extremely high highs and the lows aren't Graduation-levels of low. Beams is well documented as being a five minute epic with Chance making me a believer out of me. Feedback is probably Kanye's best flow and rap on the album. And of course Kdot on No More Parties. I think I can deal with a 8.5/10
Fav Songs: Ultralight Beams; Feedback; No More Parties In LA
KANYE ALBUMS RANKING:
The College Dropout
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Late Registration
The Life Of Pablo
808's And Heartbreak
Graduation
Yeezus
Kendrick Lamar | To Pimp A Butterfly: Listened to this in an act of solidarity after Swift won Album of the Year at the Grammys, even though in my mind it's the third best Kendrick album in my opinion. Kinda wish he performed the drunk verse on u, it's so damn emotional and gets to me every time. 9.5/10
Fav Songs: King Kunta; u; Alright
Future | EVOL: Another solid Future release, much better than Purple Reign. 8.3/10
Fav Songs: Maybach; Low Life; Fly ****
Future | Purple Reign: Seriously question, has there ever been a rapped that has gone on something as close to a scorched earth tour as Future is on right now? These are basically all songs not good enough to make it on EVOL and it's still a 6/10
Fav Songs: All Right; Wicked; Inside The Mattress
Beirut | No No No: Just a really laid back, relaxing sorta folk sorta indie album. It's perfect for a morning commute. It could stand to be a few songs longer, but quality and quantity, what have you. I just keep coming back to this album. 8/10
Fav Songs: Gibraltar; No No No; Perth
Les Misérables Soundtrack (2012): It's a really ****ing good movie and soundtrack, ok? Even with Hugh Jackman.
Fav Songs: Look Down; Paris/Look Down; One Day More
TV Girl | Benny And Jetts: A four track release by the World-Famous* TV Girl Traveling Band. Really, it's just the titular track and some other songs. Lizzy Come Back To Life is good, but not as good as Benny And The Jetts, which is a song about the girl of Brad's dreams driving away after breaking his heart while listening to...Bennie And The Jets. It's a neat little narrative and a well crafted song for only being 2:51. 2.5/5
Fav Songs: Benny And The Jetts; Lizzy Come Back To Life
Purity Ring | Another Eternity: 10/10
Fav Songs: Repetition; Stranger Than Earth; Flood On The Floor
Honeyblood | Honeyblood: I didn't really care for this the first go around, and on the check up visit I ended up liking it a lot better, especially lyrically. There's still the small issue of their songs sounding a like and having to constantly check my phone to see the name of the song, but in a vacuum it's good. 7.5/10
Fav Songs: Fall Forever; Killer Bangs; Joey
HAIM | Days Are Gone: Came out of Honeyblood wanting to listen to this. Doesn't have the staying power of say, Run The Jewels or The Bones Of What You Believe, or even Random Access Memories, but damn if this doesn't hold up well after two years. My Song 5 kicks so much ***. 8/10
Fav Songs: Falling; The Wire; My Song 5
Caribou | Our Love: Just an outstanding electronic album. First time I thought it was top loaded and kind of overrated, but I've grown to love this album throughout. 8.7/10
Fav Songs: Can't Do Without You; Silver; Julia Brightly
Jamie xx | In Color: This is the opposite of how I feel about Our Love. The more I listen to this the more I think it's just coasting off of 2-3 really great songs and the rest is...just noise.
I'm so sorry. 7.7/10
Fav Songs: Stranger In A Room; Loud Places; I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times)
Alison Krauss + Union Station | New Favorite: It was opening day and I needed something baseball-y to listen to. IMO there are only three vocalists that you can argue are the best on the planet: Florence Welch, Alison Krauss, and Britney Howard. Outside of Krauss Union Station are probably at their best on this album. 8.5/10
Fav Songs: The Lucky One; Momma Cried; Take Me For Longing
David Bowie | Let's Dance: Still not over it. Plus, this album has SRV playing guitar. 8.8/10
Fav Songs: Modern Love; Let's Dance; Cat People (Putting Out The Fire)
The War On Drugs | Lost In The Dream: Needed good study music and oh man, if TWOD is anything it's good for that. Not as high as some people are on it, but I'd easily give it a 8/10
Fav Songs: Under The Pressure; Disappearing; Lost In The Dream
Bob Moses | Days Gone By: I can't put this record away. It's so damn good. Y'all, please listen to this ****. It's impossible for me to pick three favorite songs. 10/10
Fav Songs: Like It Or Not, Before I Fall; Tearing Me Up
And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

Re: What are you listening to?
I just turned 40 and was raises on classic rock by my mother. Stones, Eagles, Springsteen, etc. But she would always tell me Duane Alman was the best guitar player she ever hear. If you don't know the Alman brothers story Duane Alman was a master at the slide guitar and died tragically in a motorcycle accident at age 24.... This guy is worshiped by just about all of his contemporaries.... Just type in Duane Alman and read. After all these years this week I decided to download The Alman brothers live at the Fillmore East 1971.... Man my mom has such good taste in music.... The fact that this guy was 23-24 when he wrote this music is mind boggling. He also wrote that famous beginning riff to"Layala" and gave it to Eric Clapton.
https://youtu.be/FUvxRjYqjEQ Duane is the guitarist right next to his brother Gregg in the videoComment

Re: What are you listening to?
I can't get over how well Weird Al pulled off this tribute to George Harrison.
Not only is he a great musician, but the singing is good too.
