Amorica - Black Crowes
Despite the cover the Black Crowes really begin to mature here putting down some beautiful tunes. They've hinted at it before particularly with She Talks to Angels, but here's a triplet of poignant tracks that puts a nice bow on each section. Between these are some classic BC jams as the band becomes tighter as a unit and keeps those bare feet tapping. P.25 London comes off as dated the more the years pass, but the rest more than make up for the dated 90s stylings as this album has aged masterfully.

Shake Your Money Maker - Black Crowes
A bit of a looser romp than Amorica, but as a debut it certainly still has the feel of the next big rock n roll band putting their stamp on things. A lot of great rockers on this (Jealous Again, Thick n Thin notablely) and She Talks to Angels always hits the heart-bone.

All This Time - Heartless Bastards
For my money this is the Bastards best and one of my favorite albums. From start to finish it never drops. There's a light-hearted optimism hidden beneath some dark and drudgy guitar riffs as the album revolves around the endings leading to beginnings. All the songs are fantastic, but Searching for the Ghost, All This Time, Blue Day always seem to poke their heads up just slightly above the others for me.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John
This has always been my favorite Elton album even if it gets a little long in the tooth. Still, song for song I think this is one of the greatest albums I own. It starts off blistering and continues on with songs where a case can be made for each of them. Elton and Bernie really hit their pinnacle here together and the instrumentation throughout is top-notch.

Nilsson Schmilsson - Harry Nilsson
I've had this for several years and it became an instant favorite the first time I listened to it. The ease at which the album flows between fundamental rock n roll styles is a joy to listen to from the stomping Jump into the Fire, to the jangling Gotta Get Up, and the emotionally-wretched ballad Without You. Of course it also has Coconut.

Novel Sounds of the Nouveau South - Ha Ha Tonka
A sophomore slump this is not. It builds upon the fantastic Buckle in the Bible Belt somehow coming up with more introspective rockers that work out those emotional demons with the prose of a literary. Close Every Valve to Your Bleeding Heart always manages to get a tinge from me. Hold My Feet to the Fire beats around the bush before setting it alight.

I've been listening to the new Def Leppard CD and I think it's best since the 80's, maybe best of all time.

The song Blind Faith at the end, I never expected this type of song from them. It's very Sgt. Pepper-like, and the vocals and lyrics of the song are fantastic and dynamic!!

I'd put this CD as one of my favorites of 2015 and this song keeps growing on me. I had to play it over again after I heard it the first time.

London Grammar | If You Wait: This album has had a strong resurgence for me lately, I love how powerful Hannah Reid's vocals are, even if they are a little raw and could stand to be developed more before she reaches the ranks of Florence Welch or Allison Krauss. The lyrics are great and the instrumentals blend between ethereal and at the forefront just enough for my taste, especially on songs like Wasting My Young Year. 9.5/10

Fav Songs: Wasting My Young Years; Strong; Nightcall

Florence + The Machine | How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful: Reid's vocals led me to want to hear this. Florence Welch is the best damn vocalist on this rock we call Earth, do not @ me unless you're making an argument for Allison Krauss. On this album she kinda reigned back on the amount of times of she hit a high note that wasn't really necessary, a process which I call Arianing. She's still fun to listen to, but I feel overall her songs as a whole got better with this album. The one-two punch of Ship To Wreck and What Kind Of Man are songs that are just so fun to listen to, each and every time. 9.7/10

Kiesza | Sound Of A Woman: I guess the theme of the first part of the week was the best of female vocals. I loved her vocals, but the transition between house, slow trap, and a little jazz based instrumentals threw for me for a loop. Like I love Hideaway and Bad Thing in a vacuum, but I don't think they really felt that they fit a general style. 7.5/10

Ellie Goulding | Delirium: How great is Lady El? This is far and away her worst album and it's still a 7.3/10

Jazz Cartier | Hotel Paranoia: I was hooked with the Talk Of The Town/100 Roses/Red Alert intro, but in the long run, it started to fade away for me save the occasional blurb. Jazz just gets caught stepping out of your traditional rap lyrics to try and drop some big truth bomb on us a bit too much. It's kinda like he wanted to make gkmc but tried to cover that up. Maybe I'll come back to it and look more favorably on it later, but for now I'm gonna slap a 7.2/10 on it.

Fav Songs: Talk Of The Town; 100 Roses; Opera

Jazz Cartier | Marauding In Paradise: Jazz's previous albumtape is much rawer, more artistic, has better flows, and conveys Jazz's message much more effectively than Hotel Paranoia. Also, it features a Toro Y Moi sample/remake/feature, so I'm all in for it. 8/10

Fav Songs: Guardian Angel; Rose Quartz/Like Crazy; The Downtown Cliche

Run The Jewels | Run The Jewels: Suprise, still a perfect 10/10

Flight Facilities | Down To Earth: Even if the album has an inferior version of it, Crave You is easily my favorite "contemporary" song, and is up there for my favorite song of all time. It's so great, but in the past it has caused me to overlook how outstanding this album is. After coming back to it, I'm elevating this album to "perfect" status. If you have never heard it and don't take anything else away from this post, it's that you absolutely need to hear this. Clair de Lune and Crave You are easily the top 3 favorite songs, but picking one to be the third was absolute torture. 10/10

Bob Moses | Days Gone By: I'm officially addicted to this album. I just can't stop coming back to it. Dark and brooding from the vocals to the electronic influences and the overpowering piano, the only fault I can find with this album is the songs run a little long in the tooth, but even still I'm more than ok with it. It's too early for me to call it "perfect", but it's definitely a candidate for promotion with the amount of time I listen to it. For now, call it a 9.7/10

Fav Songs: Too Much Is Never Enough; Tearing Me Up; Writing On The Wall

Future | Evol: At first I was thinking "wow this is just Future dropping music just to drop music" but as the tape progressed, it became more diverse and much better. Low Life serves as the high point, with Abel showcasing some bars, which was kinda unexpected. 7.7/10

Fav Songs: Maybach; Low Life; Fly **** Only

∆ | An Awesome Wave: I just wanted something familiar and good after work. Which, yea. 10/10

Fav Songs: Tessellate; Breezeblocks; Something Good

Dr. John | Locked Down: Listened to it on the way back down to NOLA because I went to the big mardigrass party on bour bon street and wanted to get in the proper mood, but also wanted some Black Keys influence. Album got me thinking about his age and yeah, I'm gonna be a mess when Dr. John leaves us. 8.3/10

Fav Songs: Locked Down; Revolution; You Lie

Rebirth Brass Band | Do Whatcha Wanna: The iconic New Orleans song lends it's name to the city's most famous band, but as a whole, the album isn't really anything special, just recreations of old piano ragtime standards and reworks. Rebirth is always good, even here, but outside of Do Whatcha Wanna they can be so much better... 6/10

Fav Songs: Do Whatcha Wanna; I Feel Like Funkin' It Up; When The Saints Go Marchin' In

Rebirth Brass Band | Hot Venom: ...like this. This is Rebirth at their best, carefree and in your face with it. Casanova, a remake of the Levert song, gets stuck in my head at least once a week. Also, there's a Soulja Slim verse at the end of one of their best songs. 8/10

What do you think of Pablo? I don't think it's necessarily his best album, but I think it might be the one I enjoy listening to all the way through the most. It's not as cohesive as MBDTF or even Yeezus (and that leaves out his early masterpieces) but as just a collection of 18 damn good songs and nothing deeper than that, I really like it.

What do you think of Pablo? I don't think it's necessarily his best album, but I think it might be the one I enjoy listening to all the way through the most. It's not as cohesive as MBDTF or even Yeezus (and that leaves out his early masterpieces) but as just a collection of 18 damn good songs and nothing deeper than that, I really like it.

I need one or two more listens before I stick it with a rating, but I really enjoyed it. Not as good as The College Dropout or MBDTF, but it's contending with 808's for third best.

I like the change in direction, because as much of "the old Kanye" we're gonna get with how he developed as a person and musician since Late Regs. He's more honest with his self and who he is. MBDTF was great because he let his insecurities crack through his *******ness, which was missing completely from Yeezy. It used to be insecurity was when Kanye's was at it best. Now he's kinda taken on the gospel, more laid back (for Kanye) persona.

I will say while I need more spins from it, it's up there with MBDTF for favorite Kanye albums instrumentally. Every one with the obvious exception of I Love Kanye is fire.
