I like Spiritbox's newer stuff, gives me a Garbage feel even if some want more harsh vocals.Comment

Re: What are you listening to?
Spiritbox kicks ***. “Rotoscope” definitely sounds like a heavy Garbage song, ha. Courtney’s vocals are some of the best out there for anyone playing heavy music IMO.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: What are you listening to?
I'm very much the same. I don't discriminate either way, but I just think that female vocals bring a great contrast to the background of especially rock songs. I'm a big fan of many of the ones you listed plus here are a few more that regularly find their way into my rotation:
Krypteria
Nightwish
Amaranthe
Lacuna Coil
Within Temptation
Halestorm
The Pretty Wreckless
In This Moment
Eva Under Fire (recent find)
Brothers of Metal (somewhat ironic name)
and a dozen or more others that instantly come to mind.
My favorite Youtube cover artist is also a female fronted band; Sershen & Zaritskaya.
However, I will say that I'm not a fan of females growling. Though to be fair, I don't like when guys do it either. I know some people love it, but it kills me inside to know that Tatiana can hit incredible notes with power like she does for parts of Pisces while spending the majority of her songs growling. The growls that she does are still an impressive talent, but they aren't melodious. Melissa Bonny is another one. She has a fantastic voice, that she uses more often than Tatiana, but then she sneaks in those growls that just makes me sad lol.
Yep. Instantly made the Shirley Manson connection too.Last edited by KSUowls; 07-17-2022, 12:45 AM.Comment

Re: What are you listening to?
a couple names I'd toss into the mix would be OTEP and Kittie, I don't know a ton about Kittie, "into the darkness" is an all time song for me, but other than that I don't know much
I'm definitely more familiar with Otep, a lot of times I pick n choose her songs based on whether it's a poem or spoken word stuff, or a heavy stuff, when she gets deep into the heavy stuff, I love itWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Thanks for the bands to check out. Floor's voice is on a totally different level, but I really don't get into Nightwish much. I've listened to Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil for what feels like decades now
I don't mind the growling as long as I can get the gist of what the vocals and song is about tbh. Tatiana has a great voice and going between cleans and growls like she does is still amazing to me. Melissa Bonny also has a great voice, especially in their acoustic tracks.

Re: What are you listening to?
My favorite music genre is symphonic metal, which features many female fronted bands. So, I'll go ahead and add a few more in case anyone wants to go down the rabbit hole, some are of these are offshoots of symphonic metal or just pure rock. Added a recommended song to check out (mostly faster paced selections).
Band/Song
After Forever - Energize Me
Nemesea - Believe
Delain - Invidia
Collide - Mind Games
Echoes of Eternity - The Forgotten Goddess
Edensbridge - Higher
Elysion - Killing My Dreams
Eyes of Eden - Star
Kidneythieves - Zerospace
Noctura - Gone Away (Offspring cover, band is very Evanescence like)
Sirenia - The Other Side
Xandria - Vampire
From my original list:
Krypteria - Victoria
Nightwish - Storytime
Amaranthe - Drop Dead Cynical
Lacuna Coil - Heavans a Lie
Within Temptation - Paradise (features Tarja, formerly of Nightwish)
Halestorm - Vicious
The Pretty Wreckless - Make Me Wanna Die
In This Moment - Black Wedding
Eva Under Fire - Blow
Brothers of Metal - yggdrasilComment
