Re: Horror/Sci-Fi movies you must see.

The original Exorcist was good.......however the other 3 or 4 exorcist movies wasn't.

    All 4 Omens were crap......

    Haunting of Connecticut was crap

Excorcist of some chick a few years ago was crap

    Unborn....crap

    Uninvited....crap

It is about 2 dozen other my child is possessed movies that were made for dvd floating around too. They all were crap.

All of them are crap because they all chasing what the original exorcist movie was, but FAIL HORRIBLELY. I mean they about milked that genre to death 5 times over.

It is kind of like the Scream genre......they milking that genre to death too.

Nothing wrong with the Omen movies, even the remake was done quite well. It's not crap...you just don't like it. Like I don't like Dreamcatcher (though, I did love the first 45 mins. or so).

I guess I just like the original version of things. Like the original Exorcist, original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, original Nightmare on Elm Street, original Karate Kid, etc.

I loved Event Horizon, even though it took me like 10 years to actually finally get around to seeing it. I'm a huge fan of some Stephen King and just about all Peter Benchley movies.

In The Mouth of Madness is a great film.

Not sure if this is classified as horror but Storm of The Century is good, albeit very long

My favorite King film, The Night Flier

You really have to fail spectacularly to make a bad horror film, even the Syfy original horror movies aren't bad.
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

I love They Live. Its one of the few movies i'll stay up to watch if it comes on AMC or whatever at 2 or 3am. Hands down the most absurd fight scene in the history of film. Some great and hilarious quotes too.

I need to see the Orphanage. GDT is the man and I posted a separate thread as he is redoing Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. I was disappointed to know that he had his hand in Splice.

The Ring on the other hand, meh. The premise leaves me. The way one protects himself is pretty lame imo.

So is REC basically Spanish Quarantine?

As far as best made for TV scary creature, I still gotta go with The Master in Stephen King's Salem's Lot. Other creepy crap in there as well. Didn't need to be dragged out into a 2 parter, but that was TV then.

Yes. REC was made before quarantine. Quarantine is the american version.
Id still see REC. so amazing.

Yeah REC is 10 times better then Quarantine. Just like the Japanese version was 10 times better then the american remake version of The Ring.

And yeah Storm of the Century was excellent. I remember a time where Stephen King would release a 4 part movie for regular tv on a yearly basis. Those were the days.
