    Re: Saturday Night Live

Wow. That snuck up on me. Come to think of it, there were episodes late last season I didn't get to watch. I need to review this and play quick catch up.

Interested to see how Beck Bennett does. Kudos to SNL on getting him, great move for them. I'd imagine there are a lot of people like me who will actually make an effort to watch the show early on just to see how he does.

Lorne Michael's must have it in for Nasim Pedrad. She is ridiculously underused.

Well, good news for you/me/everyone else - Taran Killam joined Instagram and posted this photo:

So Nasim Pedrad is rehearsing something...let's hope it makes air.

Potential bad news - Fox picked up John Mulaney's show. No word on if the cast will stay the same (outside of Mulaney and Martin Short), but if it does, Nasim would leave SNL.

Miley Cyrus tonight...so that might be interesting?

            Re: Saturday Night Live

I liked last week's Tiny Fey episode.

I tend to agree with some reviewers that think the porn star skit is tired. It's not really interesting anymore and kind of just dives into a weird area. I do love Cecily Strong and Vanessa Bayer's characters. I just wish there was something else for them.

I'm not sure how Weekend Update works. Do the anchors write all of their own stuff or no? It seemed to me that Cecily's jokes were very different than Seth Meyers. While he always finds a way to connect a story to a current reference, it seemed like she was going a different direction by playing up her personal perspective.

I liked it. Just not sure if the writers did that for her or it's just her style.

I do think the writing is better. I think it keeps improving after the disappointment that was two or three years ago for me. I especially liked the model t ad.

"We've got every model: Model T's...so come on down!"

            Paraphrasing but that was good.

There is a writing team for Update; but how they narrow down jokes from there, I don't know. I want to say Seth and Cecily probably just jokes they don't like, then they cut more from whatever doesn't hit in dress rehearsal?

I liked her on Update, though it seemed like some of her delivery was too jokey - almost in a "this is the punch line" sort of way. Probably first-time nerves. I'm well on the record for not liking Seth's delivery, so I liked the change of pace she brought.

Porn star sketch I still laugh at, but yeah...it's pretty much a one-note thing.

I felt like she dove into her Update character pre-anchor a little. Might take a bit for her to get out of that.

According to HollywoodLife (whatever that site is/unsure of how reputable it is - not my scene)...tonight's Miley performance should be more talked about than her VMAs one.

She's also reportedly going to take a shot at Sinead O'Connor..because they're feuding for whatever reason.

Hope there's enough comedy to offset the crazy. Or that the crazy is also funny.

Whatever your political leanings (and obviously we won't get into), that "We Did Stop" parody was the most on-point political sketch in probably years.

Lately, due to its' once-a-week schedule, SNL has fallen behind other outlets in mocking, but this was well-timed and produced.

...and Nasim Pedrad has been on twice tonight!

Yeah the We Did Stop skit was very well done.

Plenty of airtime for Nasim was a bonus.

Anyone notice during the alien cheerleading skit the stagehand was on screen putting the harnesses on the girls? Oops!

Yeah, I think the tight camera on Miley crapped out for a second so they had to switch early to the wide camera and got the stagehand in the shot.

Thought the episode was pretty good overall. Really liked Cecily on Update this week. Her deadpan delivery was great.

Very well done. I think I laughed the hardest at the Seth Meyers weekend update joke about the snake that escaped a fiery death. The rabbit's response just had me rolling.

Forgot about that one, it was pretty good. My favorite was about the guy who broke into a woman's house and put on her bikini.
The punch line was something like "And she was like, it fit?"...can't remember the exact wording, but it took me a second and then I had a good laugh.
