I thought the show last night was pretty terrible. Even Weekend Update/Seth Myers is really slipping lately. Although, I love the Miley Cyrus show. Her impression is spot on.

re: Saturday Night Live
The Digital Short was great. Not as good as Jizz In My Pants but pretty close.
I don't remember the last time SNL pushed a new cast member like Vanessa Bayer. She already has a recurring skit that airs early in the show.
Someone needs to tell Eminem to stop looking/acting "hard" all the time. Did he even smile when his daughter was born?Comment

Kristen Wiig didn't have a huge role on Saturday night. I think she is great but it's a refreshing change not to see her having to be in every sketch.Comment

re: Saturday Night Live
So I received the SNL Game for Christmas. They've run commercials for it the past few weeks...don't know if anyone else paid attention or even cared.
Haven't played it yet, but it looks fun. There's a bunch of "cue cards" for each decade, split among six categories. Of the six, the best look to be "Here Now, the News" and "Talk Show Showdown". The News is set up like a Mad Lib, where they give you a generic sentence that you fill in two of the blanks on to create a headline and get your partner to guess who you're referring to. Talk Show is a two-person game where each gets a choice of three people. The host chooses between three SNL characters and the guest chooses from three random celebrities. You then proceed to have a conversation as those characters. Whoever cracks first loses. Some of the host/guest combos are pretty weird so it should be fun.
I'll scan a couple of the cards to show some examples if people are interested in seeing them.Comment

Tonight's a Jon Hamm/Rihanna rerun...next week is new with Jim Carrey!
And here's an example of a 90s card and a 2000s card from the SNL game.Attached FilesComment

re: Saturday Night Live
I don't understand the 1990s card you're showing.
"Pick someone on your team who can get you to guess the character by acting it out."
But, if you have the card, don't you already know who the character is? Why am I reading this wrong?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment

re: Saturday Night Live
I think for playing I would just disregard that part and whoever draws the card has to play it. It doesn't seem to make sense any other way.
I actually sent an email to the company who made it to see if they can clarify. I feel like there's something obvious I'm missing.Comment

re: Saturday Night Live
The only way it makes sense as read is if there's a neutral person (as SmashMan suggests) or if the other team is reading the card (as Scott suggests).
So neutral/other team member pick up the card for the playing team. Then read the card out loud to the person that needs to guess the performer. The guesser chooses someone on their team and then the neutral/other team member passes the card to the performer.
It makes sense now. But, it just seems weird to have a neutral person involved. I guess, though, it should be the opposing team reading the card because they should know who the performer is acting out to see if the playing team gets the answer right.
Anyway, I'm upset it was that difficult for me to figure out."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. The email I just got back:
Throughout the duration of the game the opposing team picks out the card for the team whose turn it is.
So team A would read the card aloud to team B then hand the card over when necessary.
Hope this helps!! Enjoy the game
