Of course I don't know Frank Ocean personally, I can only give my perception: Frank is a member of Odd Future, and is known for his love of video games. So with those two things being put together, you get the act of playing a video game, while John Mayer brings the song to a close.

For Lochte, the juice thing wasn't even the best part. LMAO at him remarking on how weird it is to be dry.
Sketch of the night has to be Hader's puppet. Hilarious.Comment

Re: Saturday Night Live
Great episode all around. They even kind of took a shot at Obama during WU. Now of course this was nothing compare to the Romney bashing.
The show feels "fresher" with 3.5 new cast members and no Kristen Wiig.
I think Bill Hader has moved on to my Top 10 favorite SNL cast members of all-time. Too bad this is the last year on his contract.Comment

Re: Saturday Night Live
Joseph Gordon Levitt tonight - I think I remember him being funny last time.
Thought Weekend Update Thursday was pretty good. Got the Drunk Uncle I was hoping for last Saturday! Seth still does that thing where he rushes thru about five jokes in 15 seconds, which confuses me because he then takes his time on other jokes. Still overall, they were good jokes.
Interesting to see how working with two days worth (instead of a full week) might impact jokes tonight during WU. They always say that jokes don't carry over from one week to another, which makes sense considering the news cycle, but I have to imagine they won't have written tonight's WU entirely over the past two days.
Hader as Carville wasn't as good as previous, but I don't know that Hader can ever not be funny so it still worked.
...I also hope to not ramble on in paragraphs after episodes as I've been known to do in the past.Comment

Re: Saturday Night Live
The mood seems to be different this year amongst the crew. They all definitely seem to be having a lot more fun and are enjoying themselves in the sketches. Looks like the losses of Wiig and Samberg may have been addition by subtraction.Favorite Teams:
CFB: Ohio State Buckeyes
NFL: San Francisco 49ers
NBA: Los Angeles Lakers
MLB: San Francisco GiantsComment

Re: Saturday Night Live
Though it's a really, really small sample size, through two episodes it certainly seems like more of an ensemble show as opposed to "Kristen Wiig and the SNL Players!"
Initial impressions of tonight - not bad, but not as good as last week. Felt a little bad when the last sketch and goodnights got cut off. They could've shaved a minute off the previous sketch and given 30 seconds to each of the final two segments.Comment

I'm impressed. Not as funny as last week but still a good show.
I sound like a broken record here but it really really does feel like the host along with a cast. I've always preferred that set up. Last year was one or two cast members along with a cast and a host.
Host should be the focus. That's why they are there.

These promos are usually hit or miss, but I think this week's are pretty funny.

Upcoming Shows:
SNL - 10/13/12 - H: Christina Applegate - M: Passion Pit
SNL - 10/20/12 - H: Bruno Mars - M: Bruno Mars
I was hoping to see Claire Danes host this season but she's got a bun in the oven so that rules it out.Comment

Guessing with Applegate we will also see Maya. Nice!

Re: Saturday Night Live
First half was okay, but this episode really took a nosedive post-Update.
I say this before the last sketch airing. Maybe it brings some last-minute laughs?
EDIT: Nevermind...re-aired the Undecided Voter pre-tape. Must've been short on time after cuts.Last edited by SmashMan; 10-07-2012, 12:00 AM.Comment

Re: Saturday Night Live
This was the first time I've seen SNL "go after" Obama. Seth Myers was a guest on the BS Report recently and Simmons actually brought up the fact how the show rarely makes fun out of Obama and asks if the staff is mostly left leaning.
I didn't really enjoy this episode although we got to see a Wiig like dominance from McKinnon who I believe appeared in 5 or 6 sketches.Comment
