Re: Saturday Night Live
They lean on the singing monologue A LOT these days, so it was nice to see them switch it up a little by incorporating Black History Month into it. I liked it.
The Superbowl cold open was meh. The idea was good, but the jokes just didn't hit as well as they could have. Monologue was probably the most solid part of the first half-hour.Comment

And some folks enjoy "The Californians"...
Sometimes it's just a "to each his own" on what's funny and sometimes I think it's a mood thing...
The open and the length of "The Californians" (it really is just one joke beat to death, IMHO) prob made my perception of the monologue worse than it may have actually been...
Oh well!Comment

Became a fan of Alabama Shakes. Wow. SNL has introduced me to many artists and groups over the years.

Re: Saturday Night Live
Pretty brutal last night with Kevin Hart. The only parts I got a chuckle from was the Dove chocolate and the Walking Dead skits. The rest was pretty pathetic.
Looking forward to JT next week!Comment

Does SNL know how to use popular comics? The Louis CK episode was weak to me too with the exception being a skit or two and most especially his opening.
Kevin Hart's homeless man story was hilarious. And then they basically just used him as a token for skits. Disappointing.

Re: Saturday Night Live
I kind of liked last night - but underwhelmed would be a good word.
(Is it an A shirt?!)
The Steve Harvey parody has to go - I just don't see the point. They're playing up Steve mispronouncing words, (Is it a B shirt?!) but that is not a strong premise to keep bringing out this sketch.
Was really excited to see the Shark Tank parody, but Kenan and Hader were just bad impressions (likely because nobody has a Daymond John or Mark Cuban impression in their back pocket) - and the sketch ended really abruptly. What the hell? Loved the opposite vest.
(Is it a C shirt?!)
Also liked The Walking Dead, but I don't watch the show so if they were off on any of the characters I wouldn't know.
Dove sketch was (Is it a D shirt?!) also good.
Looking forward to JT because he tries, but to be honest I'm kind of played out on "_____ville" sketches; so (Is it an E shirt?!) once we get over that I'll be more into the episode.Comment
