That's a ton of praise, hopefully this isn't all hype and there's substance to it. Nice that they decided to make the cape CGI for the most part. I mean it'd be cool if it was real but the dynamics for that just wouldn't work at times what with the cape fluttering all over the place and sometimes getting in the way of a camera shot.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Major Spoiler alerts about someone in the movie.
SpoilerA couple of days ago we posted a quote from screenwriter David Goyer about the decision to leave Lex Luthor out of this latest Superman film. Instead of explaining why the villain wasn't included though, Goyer said this...
I don’t think anyone has [ever] confirmed that we haven’t included him.
It essentially led us to believe that Lex would be in the film. Well, thanks to AICN, it looks like we now have confirmation that Lex is going to the be in the movie. Their source says that Lex will be played by an actor named Mackenzie Gray who happened to play a Luthor clone in Smallville. They go on to say that this won't be a goofy version of the character, but he will be an "ambitious, ego driven and cold version of Luthor." Here's a video in which the actor confirms he's in the movie, but can't say who. He starts talking about it at about the minute mark,
<object width="640" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XpnZBDwCtqs?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XpnZBDwCtqs?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
The site collected a good amount of evidence, and all signs point to Mackenzie Gray playing Lex in the film. Still no information on how big the role is, but apparently it's big enough to establish the character as being ambitious, ego driven, and cold. What do you think about this bit of Man of Steel news? Here's a photo of the actor when he was on Smallville...
<object width="640" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZfyLyDrUsgA?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZfyLyDrUsgA?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
This dude will be a great Lex Luthor

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Kinda OT but kinda on topic as well. I wasn't really sure where else to put it as I don't think it deserves its own topic, but Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Batman Beyond and Batman: Brave and the Bold is now streaming on Netflix if you're so inclined to check them outComment

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
The first TV spot has aired no new footage though. Still getting excited about seeing this.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
I completely forgot he was in it as well. Such a crazy-good cast.
Has to be the best part about Superhero movies not having such a negative stigma anymore (thanks Batman/Avengers) - you can pull in an incredible cast now.Comment

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
According to this, Man of Steel will be the basis of all DCU films going forward, setting up a shared universe.
Great as the Dark Knight trilogy is (and let's face it, it was meant to exist in its own world), I'm happy Man of Steel will be the launching pad. It's commonly accepted that Superman is the first publicly known superhero in the DCU anyway.Comment

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
The next trailer is a mere few hours away and will be over 3 minutes long
SpoilerWhile the logo is fading up we here Clark’s voice repeating dialogue from the second trailer.
Voiceover:
Clark Kent (sporting a beard): I have so many questions, where do I come from?
Music kicks in, sounds like the start of an “Inception” trailer, but the music is more epic and less industrial. It keeps building as we cut to a huge shot of Krypton. It looks very futuristic but also medieval. A lot of the buildings look like the Washington Monument, if it had been built during the Renaissance.
No dialogue with any of the Krypton shots. They quickly cut from one to another with the music building with each shot.
There is a shot of people walking around on Krypton wearing unusual apparel very weird fashion. Some Kryptonians are dressed like royalty, others are dressed in kimonos, and some are wearing something akin to military fatigues.
Shot of someone standing in a hall surrounded by people.
Jor-El turning around.
Zod turning around (in a different location, with an ice cold expression.)
Battle shot with lots of people fighting.
Shot of Jor-El fighting Zod. A quick succession of shots with Zod beating up Jor-El.
Shot of a bloody Jor-El holding a gun (?) to the back of Zod’s head.
Zod and Faora in a darkened room with some circle objects spinning around them. Zod’s face is blacked out and he’s looking down, while Faora is staring straight ahead with lifeless eyes. Shot zooms out to show a room with hundreds of people watching them.
Music suddenly stops and then changes to something similar to the Gladiator like music from the second trailer.
We see a shot from the second trailer again of Jor-El and Superman’s mother kissing him and a new shot of her putting him in his spaceship (looks like a cool version of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shell.)
Shot of Krypton exploding.
Music abruptly stops.
Shot of a bearded Clark looking sad in the Fortress of Solitude and then a shot of Jor-El looking at him, showing him the iconic S symbol (from the San Diego Comic-Con trailer.)
Fade to black.
Shot of a man with glasses in a room full of computers and technical devices. He sees something on one of the screens and seems afraid.
Shot of Zod, Faora and two other guys walking in a desert. (I think?)
Epic action music kicks in.
Close shots of:
*Military getting destroyed
*Buildings getting destroyed
*Soldiers running away
*People all around the world looking at televisions and computers
Lots of news voiceovers coming in very fast, some in other languages.
Shot of Superman zooming past clouds (CC).
Music swells up and becomes even more epic.
He lands in front of Zod and the two other guys. They just look at each other.
One of the guys tries to punch Superman and he just disappears, and then suddenly he reappears and punches the guy into the next county.
The other guy also tries to attack Superman and the same thing happens to him.
That bit reminded me of how Albert Wesker moved in “Resident Evil 5.”
Shot of Superman and Zod fighting. Superman is winning and he sends Zod flying.
Shot of Zod on the ground struggling to get up.
Shot of Superman walking towards him.
Superman: Stay down, I don’t want to hurt you more than I already have.
Zod gets up and pulls back his hand like he’s getting ready punch. Superman does the same and goes to punch Zod.
Music suddenly becomes heavy, but still epic.
Shot of Faora stopping Superman’s punch with a sadistic grin on her face. She looks like an evil ice queen.
Shot of Superman trying to free his hand, but he can’t.
Quick shots of Faora just beating Superman edited with other shots from the movie. For every blow Faora lands, we see another scene from the movie.
Some shots that I remember:
*Fat kid pushing Clark (boy) against a locker
*Clark (boy) screaming with his hands on his head
*Clark (adult) standing in front of a grave (can’t see the name)
*Bearded Clark signaling some workers to run
*Lois Lane in winter clothing
*Christopher Meloni facing Superman
*Superman punching Zod in the face
*Superman and Zod crashing into buildings (CC)
*People on Krypton dying
*Zod putting on a mask (looked like something out of Fallout 3) with his back to the camera
Through all of this, voiceovers leak in.
Jonathan Kent: People are afraid of what they don’t understand.
Lois Lane: Who is Clark Kent?
Ma Kent: Be a Super Man.
Zod: Do you understand, Superman? That the Universe is committing genocide?
Shot of Superman getting flung into a bank vault, and then falling to one knee (Same from CC).
Man of Steel logo
Final shot of Faora knocking Superman down to his knees and then elbowing his neck which makes Superman scream. The sound shatters windows and topples cars.
End of trailer.“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
