I'm looking at this package, and for the price, with an LED TV, 4 pair of glasses, and 3D BluRay player, it's quite enticing. Does anyone have any thoughts on the TV? Package in general? Thanks fellas.

Nope. They're online only. They actually process their Credit Cards through BestBuy now, haha. (NO, I'm not getting it on credit). I'm not SOLD on 3D TV's yet... but for that deal, it really looked like a good deal. LED TV, 3D everything, wireless... I'm thinking it will be tax free since there are no brick & mortar stores here as well.

I am no expert or anything, but I'd definitely take that deal. I'm not sold on 3D either, but if I had two grand to blow it'd be a quick impulse buy for me, I already know it. Have you looked around and priced individual components yet?PS: You guys are great.

Re: 3D HDTV/Blu Ray Package: Thoughts?
If I had the money and needed a tv, I'd pull the trigger. A 3D blu ray player and 4 glasses will easily run you $600-800+ so $1100 for the tv is a really nice price.
The only negative that I can see with that tv: Doesn't mention having a "2D to 3D conversion" feature. Sony and Samsung 3DTVs do. Right now there is only a handful of 3D blu rays out (most are tied to exclusive tv brand deals).Comment

I would personally go out and watch one before pulling the trigger. Next door neighbor has one and he loves it more than his own kids, but everyone that he invites over to see it hates it.Comment

GameCock, it does have the 2D to 3D conversion. I've never laid eyes on a 3D tv. Haven't had tme to go out and look at them to be honest. But can't I just watch it in 2D if I don't like 3D? Maybe I need to research a tad more.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: 3D HDTV/Blu Ray Package: Thoughts?
Yah, we certainly don't have any packages at Best Buy right now that would rival that WTF. While LG may not be considered "top of the line" along with Sony or Samsung, that is a VERY quality TV... and getting the bluray player AND 4 sets of glasses?? Wow.
Like GC said, the biggest downside is probably the lack of 3D movies currently. Either way though, if you're looking for a new LED, 3D is the way to go regardless, whether you actually ever use the feature or not; 3D TVs are still going to offer some of your best 2D pictures due to the specs of the sets.
Pull the trigger dude.Comment

Re: 3D HDTV/Blu Ray Package: Thoughts?
I would go watch one first, although that price seems damn good. How much is that TV normally?
Best Buy should one set up. I LOVE 3D movies in the theater, but that's because I like being engrossed by the movie. Once you watch one you will find this is not the case. Stuff doesn't pop out at you, it just puts that depth on the tv. I wouldn't buy one smaller then a 60". Just don't see how something small live a 47" would be worth it.Comment

I'm going up to HHGregg today, apparently they have a 'close' set to what is offered here, so I'll get to see the tv for myself.
DDW, can you talk a little more about LG in general. My first LCD years ago was an LG, huge 32"er. I loved it. Thought it was a great quality set. What is the difference between the Sony/Samsung sets and LG in terms of quality? You work at BB don't you? Value your opinion on this subject.
Like you said, 3D may not be "it" for me right now, but at least I'm future proofing myself for the near future at least with the set.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: 3D HDTV/Blu Ray Package: Thoughts?
Most people have a huge issue with paying for the glasses (can't think of any that i've seen advertising giving you more than 2). That package you linked to is basically giving you the 3D blu ray player and glasses for free.
Compared to Sony, Panny and Samsung...LG is the youngest of the bunch. LG isn't another budget brand. They give you feature packed sets for a very good price.
Me and FF have LG plasmas. We both highly recommend 'em.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 10-29-2010, 04:33 PM.Comment
