Re: 3D HDTV/Blu Ray Package: Thoughts?
Quick question, are there any channels, sports in particular, that broadcast in 3D? The set today had a basketball game on as a "demo" mode. It was freakin awesome. But is there any way that I'll be watching 3D games on the regular basis?Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: 3D HDTV/Blu Ray Package: Thoughts?
I doubt it, because that means they would have to buy new cameras for every game being covered. So now they only doing it for certain games and events.
Like I know they had The Masters in 3D and I think the championship World Cup game was in 3D. But 3D hasn't reach the popularity yet that they going to broadcast every game in 3D.
They are years away from that. Kind of like how long it took them to broadcast every sports game in HD. So out of this whole NBA season, you might see a dozen or less if that, games broadcasted in 3D.Comment

Yeah, I just looked at DirectTV, and supposedly the vast majority of their games on ESPN 3 are 3D compatible... we'll see. That's who we're going with for programming anyway. Looks like they have the most HD and the most 3D channels anyway. Looking forward to the new technology.Twitter - WTF_OS

Yeah let us know how it turns out after a month or two. I would imagine after a while one would get tired of wearing those glasses.Comment

Yeah, the wife has given me an "allowance" to spend out of my bonus... so I can still get a great set, BD3D player, and a few pair of glasses... I may go a Samsung Route if you all say that's a better set. I really liked that deal though. I could have pocketed the rest of the allowance, lol.Twitter - WTF_OS

I know. I wanted to use my bonus when it came... but now look at me. Caught with my pants down... how embarrassing.
If you all can keep your eyes open for a similar deal, under $2500 (allowance), let me know. LED, 3D, BD Player, and glasses. We'll see how it goes.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: 3D HDTV/Blu Ray Package: Thoughts?
I'm not sure my wife is more excited than I am to get a 3DTV, but considering I got her to agree to a 63" 3D Samsung Plasma (PN63C8000) for $3300 without any haggle, I thought that was pretty good. She was actually the one who said our current 46" was way too small for the family room in our new house (we currently sit 14ft away from the 46" TV so that's a bit far....entire room is approximately 19ft) and wanted me to start looking for a new TV. Never thought I'd hear those words.
Crutchfield has some great deals on 3DTV's. The one I'm looking at currently has a deal where a purchase of that TV also gets 2 pair of glasses, a movie, 3D blu-ray player and a Samsung 19" TV (which is perfect because we wanted to get a 19" flat screen to mount on the wall by the jacuzzi in the master bathroom) for $3300.Comment
