Took the plunge. I got the hisense 55 inch. 500 from best buy. I think it will satisfy my needs.

        *Drum roll please*

The Vizio P65-C1 from Costco! The PQ of the unit when seen in Costco was not impressive at all....Actually, I was quite let down by what I saw....BUT I went with the reviews of some of the trusted AVS forum members and youtube videos that I could find and just trusted in the fact that a number of members stressed that once you get it home, you will realize that you were tricked by your eyes and the million nits of light burning your eyes from the lights in Costco! LOL! And this tablet as a remote...Well...I'm in! So far, so good....I like the feel of the tablet and it is super responsive and quick. Although for now, have just used Youtube....And one thing before I hit the sack (man...gettin' old sucks...LOL!), dare I say the black levels on this tv are near OLED quality....You gotta see it to believe it....And I have noticed NO JUDDER....And man...I'm super sensitive to it, so very relieved that there is none...

In any case, will give everyone an update if I keep (or return) the unit since I got 90 day return policy...Day One finished and absolutely satisfied with the purchase!

Next step: Get a digital optical cable and set up the 5.1 audio....

        Cheers fellas!
This is what I am now considering since I have a little more leeway in my money to spend (working a project this weekend to earn more money)

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

So guys now that I am about to pull the trigger I see this set the Vizio P65-C1 and I'm thinking maybe for an extra few hundred I'd prefer it to the Samsung UN65KS8000.

Here's a couple of reasons why:

          1. My man cave is in a pitch black room. Sure my wife opens the curtains sometimes and allows light in (which I hate) but 99% of the time I'm in I'm cloaked in darkness.

And one thing I hate about my TVs now, is they have that damned light around the edges and the screen is never black unless its off. Even my LG which is only 2 years old and a really top of the line model has that grey screen when it should be black.

So #1 is I want black, black, black levels that are deep (and no I cannot afford to go to an OLED, that's too much)

          2. Dolby Vision which is something the Vizio has and the Samsungs do not. I know this isn't probably a huge deal but I really would like to have it just in case. I've read about it and it seems like something if you could have you'd want to, but not a huge deal breaker in and of itself.

So what do you guys think about me going with the Vizio P65-C1 over the Samsung KS8000? Is this a last minute audible that I might regret?

I'll be honest, one reason that I'm not really committed to it is just the name of Vizio, it conjures up a "value set" and I'm spending $2000 here, and wondering if I should just go with Samsung which is what I know.

But I wonder how much of that is me thinking what others might think if I tell them I got a Vizio more than what I truly care about it myself.

          Thoughts?

Now that I am about to have the money I'm getting really nervous to make a real decision, LOL...

Might just be me but that's a waste of money, get an Xbox One S instead...about the same price and you get an entire bunch of things instead of just a player.

Amazon gives about $100 to $115 depending upon which you have.

                https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...words=xbox+one

Honestly though bundle it with a few games you no longer play and you could probably get $150 to $175 or so through selling local.

I will let you know how I like the tv since I remember we were talking earlier about it. I am still debating if I should get the geek squad warranty or just stick with the hisense warranty

Hey Joe thanks for the reply. I am leaning for sure on Samsung just not sure what model and size yet just from everything I've read, watched.

Im really liking the 8000 & the 8500. Im not sure yet if I want to spend 1599 yet but I know you get what you pay for and the Samsung is worth it. My plasma I bought is still going strong was made very well so I am hoping whatever TV I choose last just as long.

What do you guys think about buying from Sears.com? and they have some refurbished a little cheaper. Would you buy a refurbished set from sears?

The Phillips UHD player is very good. It comes with Creed 4k UHD disc. Not sure what the current price is but Nebraska Furniture sold it for $99 during Black Friday. I'm still surprised it shipped.
