Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
thanks for the input guys. I may be able to modify a mount above my fireplace to make it work but it is designed fit a 55 inch but it's big enough to squeeze a 60 inch set that I would basically be sitting on a stand. are there any mounts you guys recommend t that would stick out far enough to to mount a 65 inch. I'd like to go 65-70 if possible because like you guys said and what I'm figuring out is there aren't many 60 inch options. So if you guys have any recommendations for mounds that would stick out about 8 inches so I can mount a 65 inch tv let me knowComment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
What do you keep your guys back to late settings that I watched an interesting video yesterday that said you should have your back light settings at Max to produce the best HDR effect for HDR games as I set mine to 100 yesterday I see a huge difference it seems like the HDR in the back like should be at max to get the full effect I'll try to find a video for you guys that I watched yesterday but when I lower my back light the HDR seems washed out I'm seeing a whole new Picture of producing HDR now that my back is set to Max

Haha just kidding, it's all in good fun.
Max backlight is often recommended to obtain peak whites, and then other adjustments are to help remedy black levels, shadow detail, and whatnot such as contrast, brightness, gamma, etc. Not to put the television screen in torch mode or anything, but it's basically like maximizing the volume on your iPod when playing music and then tweak the volume knob on the receiver as needed.
Good tip regardless. A lot of people forget that HDR mode probably has its own brand new presets for picture settings.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Sometimes for film and at night, you might find yourself a slightly lower setting (my cell light is 16/20 for films, for instance), but for games you might as well crank it and adjust accordingly.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Its around 2AM ....
Set up our brand new set around 9PM ....
TOTALLY FLOORED by the PQ! And just 4k'ing it up like a boss! My wife and I decided on ....
*Drum roll please*
The Vizio P65-C1 from Costco! The PQ of the unit when seen in Costco was not impressive at all....Actually, I was quite let down by what I saw....BUT I went with the reviews of some of the trusted AVS forum members and youtube videos that I could find and just trusted in the fact that a number of members stressed that once you get it home, you will realize that you were tricked by your eyes and the million nits of light burning your eyes from the lights in Costco! LOL! And this tablet as a remote...Well...I'm in! So far, so good....I like the feel of the tablet and it is super responsive and quick. Although for now, have just used Youtube....And one thing before I hit the sack (man...gettin' old sucks...LOL!), dare I say the black levels on this tv are near OLED quality....You gotta see it to believe it....And I have noticed NO JUDDER....And man...I'm super sensitive to it, so very relieved that there is none...
In any case, will give everyone an update if I keep (or return) the unit since I got 90 day return policy...Day One finished and absolutely satisfied with the purchase!
Next step: Get a digital optical cable and set up the 5.1 audio....
Cheers fellas!Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Hey fellas,
This is a great and helpful thread. I wanted to see if any of you can give me advice, your opinion or any feedback on selecting my 4K HDR TV.
This is my story. I bought the Samsung PN50A550 (50 inch Plasma 1080P) back in 2008 and I loved this tv. It is made very well really heavy duty. I think the stand weighed a good 5 lbs.
Anyways been wanting a 4K for a couple years now and my situation is like many the price, but want to try to get the best viewing TV I can get. I don't run cable, I use apps and myself recently got into the whole Playstation Vue to watch TV. I have streamed movies for years so I know how to do that as well. I mainly game most of the time and watch movies and sports.
So I missed out on any specials on black Friday didn't have the funds then and around the Superbowl with taxes coming late this year. I should be getting my money in a week and trying to narrow down the TV that's best for me. A couple years ago I was lucky enough to try out a Vizio 70 inch but it was jut a smart 1080p Tv not 4k and I messed around with a Sharp Aquous that was 60 inches.
I would love a 70 inch but depends on the price can't go over around $1200.00 and I know the better4k HDR TVs are $1599.00 and up. I prefer Samsung always have but been looking at the LGS, Sony and possibly a Vizio M series.

5. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-60-cl...?skuId=4954002
I realize there a bit out of the price range I want to spend, when I bought my plasma in 2008 I spent about $2500.00 but this time in life I just can't see myself spending that kinda money on 1 item. I was maybe thinking of looking at the open box items at best buy I have done that in the past and had pretty good luck. I also have looked at several sites trying to find a better deal like Fry's.com, Target, Sears and Walmart.
Any help is much appreciated fellas thanks.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
The only set worth getting on that list is the Samsung. If you want to stay in the range of both those Sony and LG sets, I would suggest taking a look at the Hisense 65HC8 which is going for $750.00 on Best Buy.
EDIT: Just a heads up, this set is Native 60hz which could be a deal breaker for some
