Ah. It hasn't been added to consoles yet.

Thankfully, they have now made DV fully software-based, so it can be put in consoles and televisions via updates. Games will still have to be released with that in mind, though. It's not an "automatic" thing if that makes sense.

Yeah we don't even know if Scorpio will support Dolby Vision at this point

Does anyone own or recommend this set? How bad are the blacks actually? are they really that noticeable from all the reviews?

My guess is it maybe does require a 12 bit and that pixelpixel person has read that somewhere.

But just because your set may be a 12 bit set doesn't necessarily mean it'll support Dolby Vision.

Also, you really can't flat out say that because a TV is 10 bit that it has HDR either. There are many sets out there that are 10 bit panels but do not support HDR.

Do you know the model number of your TV? Is it the Hisense HTC8?

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

Here are my settings on my 65ks8000. One thing I'll say is that not all TVs are the same. You can use these as a reference. I used the Disney world of wonder blu ray to calibrate mine.

I use movie mode because I personally prefer a natural looking image and it's what professional calibrators almost always use. I use 2 different settings for my set. One for cable and the other for gaming and movies.

            Cable viewing:
Backlight: 8 you can raise this depending on your liking. I don't go over 12 because it looks too bright.
            Brightness: 45
            Contrast: 98
            Sharpness: 0
            Color: 50
            Tint: in the middle untouched
            Apply picture settings: current source
            Digital clean view: Auto
Auto motion plus: custom/ motion blur reduction 8
            Smart LED: Low
            Film mode: auto 1
            HDMI UHD color: off
            HDMI Black level: auto
            Dynamic contrast: off
            Color tone: warm 2
            White balance: untouched
            Gamma: 0
            RGB only mode: off
            Color space: auto

            Gaming/movies
Backlight: 6 this is my settings for night gaming. You can raise this for day time gaming if you'd like.
Everything else same as above except Digital clean view is off. This is good for lower quality stuff like cable tv or DVD. Automotion plus: off and this is disabled in game mode. HDMI UHD Color is on. Film mode off. Some prefer warm 1 for gaming for their color tone.

When watching HDR content. Backlight is set to max which is 20, smart LED is set to high and color space is native. As long as you select apply picture settings to current source your settings will automatically save and the tv will use those settings depending on what you're watching. What we're all waiting for is for Samsung to release an update for game mode where HDR picture settings will automatically kick in so you don't have to manually do it every time like it is now. They're aware of it and now it's a waiting game.

@Fellow Vizio owners (or anyone with knowledge on this tech) -

So...is it the tv or the tablet remote when casting determine the quality of video 'casted' onto the screen for these Vizio sets? In other words, is the tablet remote or the tv determine the 'quality' of the video casting?

The display is just a display and that means is just showing what the tablet is casting

Dolby Vision HDR may be coming to a game console near you

Dolby's HDR standard is now available in a software version, which means it can show up on existing TVs and game consoles.

                      Interesting.

Line that stood out to me. This would certainly be a nice thing for the common Joe Schmoe who isn't tech savvy.

"One advantage that Dolby Vision has over HDR10 is that Dolby Vision won't requireHDMI 2.0a*to run. It will run with*HDMI 1.4, which potentially allows compatibility with more legacy hardware."

HDMI 3 or 4, then go into your HDMI settings and make sure you have it set to enhanced

Thanks a lot. And this auto up converts right? Also if you have any pointers with the tv with settings I would appreciate them. The YouTube videos look great so far. I can't tell if it 4k except for I am watching them in the 4k section. I don't know how to view the output while viewing youtube.

Thanks for posting, I matched up most of these, well all for gaming. But for cable viewing I like the screen brighter, so I left mine at 19. I think maybe I'll get tired of it and move it down but for now I love the brightness.

Why do you disable HDR for the cable tv viewing?

Also, I use Dynamic Contrasting on Low, it just looks better to me than turning it off..
