Can't we all just get along.

No reason to keep debating this whole thing. If you are happy with what you have that's all that matters.

There are 60hz TVs that are fantastic and 120hz TVs that are fantastic. In the end, either way shouldn't be cause for contention.

I got no contention bro. I'm just trying to put out correct info that most people don't know because they don't want to read about things and just go by what they are told by sales people. Not all but many.
Just trying to save a few bucks for someone. Here is another tip. Do not waste your money on a 240 Hz TV because it ain't happening. Some articles refer to it as a fake number lol.

In all fairness I think it’s been a cordial and respectful debate. I think it’d be beneficial if this could be debated respectfully with facts to educate each other on the topic. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I think it would help your case if you provide links so people can read up on it and see. I’d read it myself.

My post was just a silly post meant to be taken in jest.

I realize now it could be misconstrued as a moderator warning post.

That was totally not my intention. Healthy debate is great. I certainly wasn't discouraging that.

If anything I said came off like that, then I apologize.

Im not trying to make a case, im trying to provide real info. And this is an example of what im also saying. Most dont want to go search and just rely on others to tell them and if that someone is a salesperson, you arent getting the real info.

Ill provide two links but doing a Google search will give you many others to read and some links have more info than others.

Though many TVs claim to have a 120Hz refresh rate, that number is often fake. They’re really just 60Hz. Here’s what they’re doing.

What is the refresh rate on a TV, and do you need a 60 Hz or 120 Hz model? Check out this essential guide to the TV refresh rate if you're not sure.

The links you posted say there is a difference. For budget TVs it may not matter 60 vs 120 as the motion handling probably isn't going to be that different on the 120. As you move out of the budget range, 120 is almost always going to be better because of all the other included stuff that is better on the TV.

No one has said just buy a 120hz TV just because it has it. People have said in this price range or between 2 models, buy this one because it is better overall and is 120hz. I've turned all motion handling off on an older expensive TV I had.

It all comes down to do you want the cheapest option or do you want the best within a range.

It doesn't exactly say that but if that's the conclusion you came to, then cool. It says a lot more than just there is a difference for which it also says you may not notice when using cable TV. The biggest difference you will notice it is from playing your Xbox One S and the X and perhaps now the PS4 Pro.

My intent was never to tell anyone to not buy a 120Hz TV because they are cheap and they are useful in gaming and i myself bought one. But anything above that, like 240 Hz is a waste of money.
There is a lot of info there to take in and manufacturers specs apparently don't all work the same.

Ok, so am I correct or not in saying that native 120hz panel is better than a 60hz panel for watching sports because the 120hz panel is inserting frames in between what is being missed to make it look smoother or something along those lines?

This is basically the gist of everything I've read about it.

And also, I don't think anyone is arguing about the whole 240hz or whatever being legit. That's all marketing.

I've seen a few people say that there are no TVs out there with a native 120hz panel, and that is absolutely not true.

Depends. The second article is saying no.....as far as regular TV, no matter what you are watching and it only works for some videos and gaming.

The first one says it can but it depends on your own eyes and if you can tell. The author says he can tell while his colleague can not.

For regular TV I can't tell a difference but I can on the game consoles. Like tonight, Im watching the Alabama vs Oklahoma game going from the 55" 120 Hz TV in the living room and went to my other Samsung TV in the bedroom to watch the rest of it that is a 46" 60Hz and they look the same to me.

Ok. I wonder if I put two TVs in front of you and you didn't know which was which if you could tell. Hey maybe some can tell but obviously it isn't a huge difference if they say most can't yell. But ok, you are one that can tell.

Basically all I know is that my current tv is 60hz and I see a lot of judder and motion blur when I watch football. Not all the time or on every play, but it happens a hand full of times per game.

Like I said before, I pulled the trigger on a new tv it's 120hz and it will be here on Thursday so I can't wait to see if this will be less of an issue.

Oh and the TV reveal will be on Thursday so stay tuned.

Cool man, hope you enjoy it.
Some TVs are better others in that department.
I have three Samsungs. One is 9 years old, one is four years old and one is one month old. All of those have been excellent.
My other Is a Vizio which was my first HDTV which is only a 1080i. Still works and is in one of the bedrooms. That thing is about .....I don't know 13 to 15 years old? Not sure exactly. It's been ok. I'm sure the newer Vizio's are much better.

Set it up, I can tell the difference. I specialize in selling TVs, I know the difference between a native 120 hz panel and 120 hz CMI or motion processing. Like I tell people all day long, if you don't see the difference, cool, then buy the more inexpensive one. If you don't care about 120 hz, then I'm sure you don't care about having a wider color gamut on the tv then either, if it all looks the same...
