Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Originally posted by itsmb8Went to ABT, Best Buy, and Walmart. Walmart i knew wouldn't have anything but i checked anyways. Abt and Best Buy.... completely bare. No OLEDs at all outside of displays that are a 100% no-go because with display models you're just asking for a quick burn-in and its a total waste of money.
Looks like my best bet is to call LG and see when I could possibly expect the 48" CX to actually be available (Abt says Friday is an almost guaranteed negative) or just settle with the Q80T.
UPDATE: Abt is listing the 48" as an expected July 10th availability date, so I bit on the 55" Q80T for now, and in early July I'll reassess and decide if I want to return it for a CX or just keep the Samsung.PSN-Shugarooo

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
This Hisense I spoke of before arrived today. Scheduling delivery with Pilot was easy and they held to the delivery time. Didn't get to hook it up until the latter part of the evening. Had to apply some updates which did not take long at all. Someone on the Slickdeals site posted a manual update they recommended doing through the Hisense site, but I think it was redundant.
Hisense 65" Class 4K Smart TV - 65CU6200
Only used the presets for now. I'll get into more of the video calibrating later. Initial impressions are that for the price (and buying it sight unseen) I am totally blown away. Yes, there are light spots while a video is not displaying but this certainly isn't problematic for me. I would assume that many of you guys who have higher end TV's and get those deeper blacks may not like the look of this, but I couldn't be happier. I don't necessarily think spending the extra $200 for the H8C would been worth it. And just got under the gun for the 4 year warranty (so thank you to whoever gave the heads up on that).
But let me brag on Hisense's customer service. It started with chat and after a time, eventually I was escalated to T2 since there was no apparent repair and a replacement was in order. At a later point, they indicated that I'd have to send it in instead, but then got a call soon after stating that they would be replacing it with a 2019 model of similar quality (so not the H9).
The great thing was I had no idea what happened to my receipt, digital or otherwise .... simply lost track of it. But, they took if from the the manufacturer's date of Aug. 2016, so I was under the bell. Just delivered this week and all set up.
Can't say I'm a fan of the Google account option and not using it. Other thing is it came with 3 HDMI ports, not 4. But overall satisfied and still a big fan of theirs.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Looked at Abt's website before I went in to pick up the Q80T... And they had the 55" CX back in stock! So I cancelled the Q80 order and got the CX of course. Luckily a family friend was working today and I discounted the CX to $1670 instead of the normal $1800 tag too.
So yesterday I went through all that trouble for nothing. Got the TV I wanted all along, at a bigger size, and in time for TLOU2 and the rest of the insane gaming season approaching us the rest of the year.PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
So, other than the 48" CX, what's going to be a good choice for PS5 (120Hz, 4K, HDR, VRR) in a smaller size. I'm sticking with my office as my gaming spot, it's just easier instead of trying in the living room and kicking my wife out to the bedroom.
Largest I could probably go and still have it get by as a work monitor (1 of 3) would probably be 40". Any ideas or potential monitors/TV's coming out later this year or early 2021 that anyone is aware of?Comment

Only other option would be to just do a gaming monitor.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Scott, I just purchased the 48" CX OLED. It comes Next Saturday. In the end it was between the sammy Qled 90T and CX. I went the Oled route, this will be my first OLED.
What do you think. I was just afraid of burn in, but kept watching videos about not worrying about it, im not one to leave any staic images on my screes, do I need to really worry about anything in your honest opinion when gaming or watching sports?
Im pretty excited. Your thoughts would be really appreciated it. Would you be opposed to using this just for gaming and Monitor?

Honestly, there’s nothing to worry about. My wife and I both game on a C9. Just don’t watch news 10 hours a day.

I haven’t had any issues with that and I watch a ton of sports on my Sony OLED.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Yeah, so what about working with Windows with a task bar 8 hours a day/5 days a week? That's my concern. That and I'm not sure I could actually work with a 48" monitor at my viewing distance. The issue at 32" is there really isn't anything in a gaming monitor at this point with 4k, proper HDR, 120 HZ, etc. I'm more so looking for the best TV instead of spending extra on a monitor.Comment

That was my concern as well. I went with a 1440p 144 hz monitor instead.
