LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

I’m also interested in a 43”. I’m looking at the Sony X800H right now and the Samsung Q60T.

This past winter my wife played the ulog fire place on my 2017 LG C7P for hours a day and ended up causing permanent burn in on my screen. Now I have a big green haze spot in the center of my display.
I was upset at first but then I thought about it, she just gave me a legit excuse to buy a new TV. So now I have my eyes set on the 2020 LG GX. Ill be driving Uber for extra income to buy it.

GX is definitely a great choice

Those are a bit out of my personal budget (I'd like to stay under $400, if possible), but they both look like solid TVs! RTings seems to think the Samsung is a tad better than the Sony, especially for movies.

That's because RTings factors in price. Samsung is not better than Sony, aside from for gaming.

I'm in the market for a 43'' 4K TV (the time has finally come to retire my well-used 26'' 720p Insignia LCD and make the jump to 4K for the first time) and have been doing my homework on what to look for and possible models over the past few moths.

For awhile, I was gravitating towards the Vizio M-Series Quantum, but they ended up dropping the 43'' version for their 2020 lineup. Since then, several models have caught my eye:

Lately, I've been leaning towards the TCL (with the Vizio being a close second). According to RTings.com, it looks like last year's 5-Series was a better TV than last year's V-Series.

So, with all of this in mind, I have a few questions.

Should I stick with the TCL as my top choice, or should I strongly reconsider one of the other models?

When can I expect information about this year's 5-Series to release? Do you think it will receive the HDMI 2.1 and/or HDR 10+ support that this year's V-Series will receive?

For context's sake, my main use cases are going to be watching physical media (I still have a ton of DVD's and Blu-rays, so upscaling lower-res content will be important), watching live sports, and casual, noncompetitive gaming.

Out of those sets, I go with the TCL no doubt.

Thank you! After some more of my own research and advice from others, I think I'm pretty much settled on the TCL 5 Series.

Now it's just a matter of waiting for this year's model to release or pulling the trigger on one from last year.

I probably won't make a purchase until August at the earliest. Hopefully that's enough time for at least some information about this year's model to release (if not the TV itself).

Vizio came out with their 2020 pricing and line up. Majority of their line up seem to be aimed at the Hisense, TCL tier. They do have an OLED at the top of their line up aimed at the LG BX coming in at $1,300 for 55 inch.

Regarding their OLED, if they are still doing their poor processor, I wouldn't trust it for a minute.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

Wife and I are closing on a new house next week and I want to upgrade to a 75 inch TV for the theatre room. Good time to do it with the 4th of July sales.

I missed out on the LG TV I wanted (LG UM7570), so looking at these two TVs as my next option (both are at the high end of my budget; know these are entry-level TVs for this size):

                          - Samsung Q60T LED
                          - LG 8 Series SM8600

RTings gives a slight edge to the Q60, while the general public gives a slight nod to the Nano 8.

Does anyone have any experience with owning or testing either?

                          TIA.

Please don't get the Q60T, it's a 60 hz refresh rate. If you're doing a Samsung, it needs to be at least the Q70T.

I went ahead and got the Nano 8, as TVs (except the Q60T, haha) were flying off the shelves.

My budget was up to $1500.

                                Appreciate it, though.
