I can see where input lag can be a huge issue with shooters, especially on some of these sets that have some atrocious lag. There is just way too much processing going on that is killing performance from what I was reading. I hope in time LED's do go down in price. I really like the technology and the pricing + a few other factors is what kept me away + there isn't a 50"-52" anymore for any LCD's unless you want a Sharp. There are rumors though that they might be going back to making 50" sets since there is a lot of demand for them out there. There is such a huge gap between 46" and 55".

Tell me about it.
But I highly recommend Samsung, they might have the most input lag because of all the processing they do which turns out a great picture but if you do some research you can find a great set for gaming as well
What I love about my LED is that game mode is very much editible for different picture settings which many previous game modes on samsungs would not allow custamizationComment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Yeah, that's something that surprised me with my PN63C8000. Even in Game Mode, there were still plenty of calibration settings... I even saw a few people that had Game Mode turned on for regular HDTV viewing - I don't, but it goes to show how many calibration options are available. It sure made a difference on my PS3. First time I popped a blu-ray into the PS3 was on Christmas Day...tried to watch National Lampoon's Xmas with family, but the lip sync was so terrible, it made it unwatchable. Once I turned Game Mode on, all of that was resolved. I don't use the PS3 for blu-rays anymore (got a Samsung BD-C6900 when I bought my TV), but it shows how well Game Mode works. I also tested on MLB:10 The Show and saw a big difference in the meter timing between Game Mode and non-Game Mode.Tell me about it.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I wouldn't say that my TV has atrocious lag, but I honestly could not bear having any more than mine does have. I'd say that the lag is even still, ultra significant. It is actually least apparent with a shooter, I'm not sure why. I guess because I attribute pulling the trigger to a slightly delayed process or something, but I don't feel the effects of that delay as much as something that you visually see like a meter.
The only time I really notice the difference in that is if I play it on a TV with less lag, but the other way I do is because of how much it irks me one-on-one when I see someone around a corner. Not only is my TV technically on a visual delay to start with (so in essence, the bad guy sees me first because of his TV's response time), then when it's time for me to pull the trigger, there is also lag on my end once again. So it's like doubly-haunting that I am rarely ever able to kill somebody in that moment, which is what makes it very difficult for an FPS shooter.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
That is really strange, what monitor do you have?
I have the PX2370 and it has no lag at all. When playing COD only regular hdtv I was going 7-15 all the time. When I play on monitor, I always end up with more kills then deaths
Also in the Show the meter for pitching and hitting is easier on the monitor then on the hdtvComment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Fish has the 46C650/670 for an LCD, so I think he means he can't play COD on the TV due to the lag. I had a similar set as fish, the 46C600 before getting the plasma and the lag was noticeable on the Sammy. I think that is what he meant.....but I could be wrong. That is really strange, what monitor do you have?

I thought he meant he could not play COD on a monitor. LOL
But yea the C650 and C670 are bad bad for gaming because of the input lag, they look great but not for gamers. There is a trick I can teach you FishComment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Make sure that you only use HDMI 1 (PC) on your samsung
1. Go to the remote and rename that input PC and it will swithc the processing for that HDMI input to PC mode via HDMI, this will shut down many of the tv's processing that causes input lag
2. The picture settings are limited a bit on this mode so you might want to play with them to get the colors and picture as you would like but it makes playing much better then non pc mode and very miminal lag.
Let me know how it works outComment

Funny, I heard HDMI 2 is better for gaming. But I guess you're referring to some extra features on that television set that I'm not aware of (I can't rename my inputs, for example).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I have a Samsung LCD. I don't feel like posting the inferiority of my actual TV itself, but you can blame my mother for that one (wouldn't let me spend over a certain amount or get a certain size).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

That is what I did with my 24" Samsung Syncmaster LCD I bought in December, it made a huge difference for PC and when I had the PS3 hooked up to it.Make sure that you only use HDMI 1 (PC) on your samsung

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
So just to clarify.... To rank black levels would you say that this is true?
Ranking Black levels-
1. New Plasma
2. graying plasma
3. Led
4. LCD
5. DLP
Your not only answering my question but an entire office. The misinformation out there is staggering and we are trying to get our facts straight.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
HAHAHA. let me tell you that there is no bad Samsung tv, they make the best hdtvs all around.
If it is a Samsung then hdmi 1 should be an input that you can rename to PC, that is weird that you cannot.
Are you sure that you cannnot go into settings and edit the input name from Games, Blu Ray, Satellite, PC ?
That is the only input that when you rename it to PC it switches to PC mode, any other HDMi input on the tv would not work and it has to be on 1080p only for it to work like it shouldComment
