What do you think of the Vizio P Series? It looks like it's gotten better reviews than that NU8000.

The Vizio P Series 2018 is a great TV for a wide range of different usages. It has very good picture quality, especially when viewed in a dark room due to the hi...

The best gaming tvs are from Samsung and that is fact. This years LG OLED are superior for movie watching but for HDR gaming since they added smart dynamic contrast the HDR game mode input lag is 30ms so you need to game on SDR to get 21ms

Also, OLED suffer from terrible ABL (Auto Brightness limiter)

The top tv for gaming is the QF9N followed by the Q8FN

Not only can you get variable refresh rate to make all your 60fps games buttery smooth but you get low input lag and if you want to play at 1440p you can get the input lag under 10ms

It also allows you to put some soap opera effect to your picture (interpolation) to smooth out the judder from 30fps games

I have the 8 and the Qled is the gaming tv but for everything else the OLED is king

OLED also great for gaming but just not in the same ball park as the QLED

P series isn't bad. Both are 120 hz panels, Samsung will do better with gaming. Vizio has a full array, so it has that going for it. Samsung will still have better brightness. Black uniformity will be around the same on both.

I still think the Sony mid ranges sets beats Samsung's offerings. I have the x900E, which has been upgraded to the x900F. There is no way I would pay what Samsung is charging for those sets when the Sony version is on par for $1000 less.

My take on the lower end TVs is that if you are looking to get a budget model, say, under $1000, just ignore HDR as a feature. It's a rip-off. you may find a better cheap 4K TVs than the TCLs if you eliminate HDR as a feature.

You can't really call the 900F a mid range. The 900F is Sony's top LED tv currently. The 8000 is on par with the 800E/850F.

The Sony 900f is not as good as the 8 and definitely not as good as the 9 QLED models.

Leaving the 9 out for a second. The 8 has superior contrast, gaming features and lower input lag. The only advantage the Sony has on the 8 is the brighter set but even that is negated by the input lag difference and the VRR functions as well as Auto Motion game settings to help remove judder in games with 30fps caps

I put the 900f more in line with the q7 which is also a very good tv minus the FALD

I ended up going with the Vizio P Series P55-F1. I got to the store and narrowed it down between the P Series and the X900F and the more responsible half got the better of me. I'm in anesthesia school for the next 3 years and realistically, I will be watching this maybe once a week (definitely every Sunday). The $500 difference between the 2 is basically the $$$ for my textbooks for a couple of semesters, and once clinicals start, I'm going to need that badly. However, this investment will still work out for me because this TV is basically going to be my main source of entertainment for the next 3 years.

The only thing with this Vizio TV is that there aren't that many built in apps on it, and I don't think I can install apps like MLB.tv and NFL Sunday Ticket. I do have a PS4, but there's an Apple TV upstairs that my parents never use and I was wondering what you guys thought about using either of those as a complement to Vizio's built in user apps? Does it matter what I use? PS4, Apple TV, Fire Stick, etc. This is the first time I've ever had this "issue" with not having the apps that I want already built in to my TV.

It doesn't matter what you use. Unless you have issues with crashing than it's all going to be pretty much the same. My semi-smart TV only has Netflix, YouTube, Amazon, and Vudu. The Netflix button is convenient, but otherwise I do 99% of my streaming through my Xbox. Even if I could install more apps the UI on the xbox is going to be 10x faster than what is likely on the TV.
